  1. 28 members are viewing this thread at the same time, wow
  2. I'm trying to not get my hopes up but this is so exciting.
  3. The fact that the tweet was deleted makes me think there could be something to this.
  4. You know what I was trying to say. The Sox could fill 3 or 4 holes with the same amount of money that they would be paying a 29 year old pitcher coming off a career year. They need to avoid Corbin at all costs. It's a no-brainer.
  5. You could sign Donaldson, Brantley/McCutchen, Cahill, and a reliever like Familia for the same price as it would take to get Corbin.
  6. This would be the worst case scenario. Jesus Christ.
  7. It would never happen in a million years but Edwin Diaz would look so nice in a Sox uniform
  8. The Sox weren't even mentioned in that article. Nightengale has been the Sox mouthpiece for a long time. I think Bob is excluding them on purpose.
  9. Familia as the closer would be amazing.
  10. and that very might well be enough to win this trash division, especially if the Indians rebuild.
  11. His MLB service time would not have started had they kept him in the minors for all of last year. So while he would have missed a full season in either case, the Sox would have had him under team control for 7 more years instead of the 5 years they will have now because of their decision to call him up late last season.
  12. Seems like Morosi is really pushing the fact that the Sox will be big players in this free agency market. I don't know what his reasoning would be to keep reiterating it if it wasn't true.
  13. They could non-tender Avi and I would be completely fine with it. He's not worth 8 million to me.
  14. If the Sox do go ahead and sign Cruz, I hope they keep Abreu too. Like you guys said, his trade value isn't particularly high but he's still a productive hitter when healthy. Cruz could take the majority of the at-bat's at DH, with Abreu at 1B. Palka would still get his fair share of playing time as well as he could rotate between DH, 1B, and the OF, as well as pinch hitting duties. I would be all for signing Cruz on a short term deal.
  15. I guess now was the best time for Kopech to have the surgery if it had to happen, my point was that I wish the Sox hadn't called him up last season because now they're burning a full year of his MLB service time in a season where he won't even pitch. But like I said, it is what it is.
  16. Yuck. I'd already rather take a chance on Trevor Cahill than Happ.
  17. I don't think this is a big deal. Extending him doesn't mean he's here through the entirety of the rebuild. They can still fire him whenever they see fit in the future.
  18. This is no different than what the Cubs did with Bryant a couple years ago. In hindsight I wish they would've done the same with Kopech as they're now burning a year of control for nothing but it is what it is.
  19. I don't think he knows any more than we do.
  20. I meant in the sense that if they give 100+ million to Corbin, the odds of getting Harper or Machado are significantly slimmer.
  21. I will be so angry if the Sox use their limited financial resources on Corbin instead of Machado or Harper.
  22. Like soxfan2014 said, Cruz was teammates with Machado for awhile. Interesting...
  23. Signing Cruz wouldn't have any negative impact on the Sox pursuit of Harper/Machado, right?
