  1. At worst, Donaldson is probably an ~.800 OPS guy for the foreseeable future assuming he can stay on the field. I'd take that production in a heartbeat.
  2. I'd do 2 years and $40m. Or maybe even 3 years and $45m. Donaldson is a stud and adding him to this lineup would be huge.
  3. Agreed. Just imagine the massive increase in OBP just from adding Harper and Donaldson. The Sox would have so many more guys on base every game.
  4. I'd be thrilled with Donaldson as well if the Sox can get Harper too. Injuries are obviously a concern with him but his upside is tremendous. When healthy, he's one of the best hitters in this entire free agent class.
  5. For shits and giggles, let's say the Sox are able to get Harper. Would you guys target someone like Josh Donaldson to play 3rd base? Or would you keep Yolmer there?
  6. In all seriousness, I can't see the Sox cutting ties with Avi unless they are planning on upgrading that position. If nothing else, they'll probably sign someone like Michael Brantley to replace him, though I still think Harper is a definite possibility.
  7. Making room for Bryce Harper.
  8. I know but I think Harper's skill set/attitude will age better. We've already seen some character concerns from Machado. I wouldn't be surprised if he mailed it in and became fat and lazy once he lands that big contract.
  9. The thing with Harper is that he is so young that he could conceivably still be good towards the end of his next contract, even if it's a 10 year deal. Signing him is a no-brainer. Get it done Rick.
  10. I think you're being extremely pessimistic here. The Sox will have to overpay to get either of them but not $75 million more than the 2nd highest bidder. Just my opinion.
  11. 100% agreed. Not getting one of them is absolutely unacceptable.
  12. I think Harper will get around 350 and Machado 325. I'd be fine if the Sox paid more than that though.
  13. I'd be cool with that. $350 million should hopefully be enough to get at least one of them to bite. I don't think the market for either of them is as big as people expected it to be.
  14. I would offer Machado and Harper identical contracts right now: 10 years and $325 million with an opt out after year 5. The first to accept gets it.
  15. The guy has 148,000 posts on a White Sox forum. Lol
  16. That write-up doesn't really shine a positive light on him. Sounds like he could be the lefty version of Kenta Maeda. Wouldn't pay upwards of 50 million for that.
  17. What kind of contract do you think Kikuchi will get? I don't know all that much about him.
  18. Dunning, Hansen, Rutherford for Senzel. Who says no?
  19. He didn't say that. He just said that the Reds value Senzel like we value Eloy.
  20. I'd rather have Paxton than Corbin for sure.
  21. Luis Robert is being compared to Adam Engel. SoxTalk is amazing.
  22. If they could sign Harper and trade for a controllable 3rd baseman like Suarez or Senzel, I would cry tears of joy.
  23. As far as a trade does, I only have a few untouchables: - Eloy, Kopech, Cease, Robert, and Madrigal. Everyone else is available in the right deal.
  24. Say the Sox add Harper and a couple other guys like Cruz, Donaldson, Happ, and a reliever. Combine that with hopeful improvements from Moncada, Anderson, Giolito, Rodon, Lopez, etc and I would hope that team would win more than 76 games.
  25. If the Sox can put a good product on the field for once, people will show up.
