  1. Can't believe you guys are spending all this time arguing about Joakim Soria. Lol.
  2. I would do Avi for Salazar straight up in a heartbeat. I'd drive Avi to O'Hare myself if that was offered.
  3. If anyone can get the most out of current day Joakim Soria, it is Don Cooper.
  4. 2 bullpen pieces. Can't complain. It was an area the Sox had to fill anyway.
  5. Avilan's stats are actually not too bad for what it's worth.
  6. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 04:00 PM) "The final package could look like this: Giolito (or Anderson), Cease, Rutherford and Collins." I would not be in favor of surrendering that much talent, even though Yelich is very good. I do not think the Marlins asking price would be nearly that high, and guys like Rutherford/Collins still have enough stock to warrant being much better than 3rd and 4th pieces in a deal like that. Even taking a pessimistic view of those players would result in us dealing 6+ seasons of a #3/4 starter, reliever in Cease, 4th outfielder in Rutherford and a C/1B prospect with on base skills and some pop. That would be way too much. No thanks. I think the Sox would be better off re-visiting this idea next offseason if the price is that high.
  7. If it's a 1 year contract in which the Sox think they can flip him at the deadline for more than the equivalent of a draft pick in which they'd be forefeiting to sign him in the first place, I can somewhat understand it. Otherwise it makes no sense to me and I'd rather wait and try to get Machado.
  8. Moustakas to the Sox isn't even believable, how did so many people fall for it?
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 01:49 PM) Chances of that pick being a better player than Moustakas are slim. I also think its slim they sign him, but probably like him a lot and if you gave him 4 or 5 years, he is there for when the winning is supposed to commence. It also would probably take Machado out of the equation, but then again, maybe not. Who knows, maybe Moustakis moves to 1B in a couple of years, and his presence helps convince a guy like Machado to take the White Sox money. Moustakas isn't good enough to warrant losing a draft pick at this point in time given where the Sox are at as a franchise. Just my opinion.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 12:23 PM) In the ESPN.COM column on remaining free agents and where they will sign, for Moustakis, they gave the White Sox as best bet. I always figured the way Hawk went on and on about him, he was highly regarded at 35th and Shields. You have to wonder if his knee surgery hurt his defense, and if so, if it's permanent, but if they are being realistic, and his price is down, his bat would look really good at GRF. I would think if KC and the Sox were offering the same dough, he would stay where he's at. Forfeiting a draft pick for him would be moronic.
  11. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 09:57 PM) He's in the best shape of his life...in January? But where's he gonna be in March? He'll be as ripped as Kopech by March.
  12. I hope the Bulls keep Quincy Pondexter around, he is such a good leader even though he doesn't play that much.
  13. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 06:58 PM) Seems like a good chance to take. Also may indicate how they're leaning on Abreu. Agreed. Choi isn't that old either. If the price is right, I'd think it's worth the risk.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) Does he need to get a ton better? He's already very good. That's certainly debatable. Very debatable.
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Q will be on the Sox until the 2018 trade deadline.
  16. Danish can't strike anyone out. He's probably a mop-up guy and nothing more at the big league level.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 20, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) Sweaty Freddy needs to come back as a pitching coach just because a team can never have too many Garcia's. This is hilarious.
  18. Anyone else think the Sox could go after Jose Israel Garcia as well since they have nothing to lose now?
  19. This is such an exciting time to be a White Sox fan.
  20. I don't know why the thought that Yolmer has any influence on Moncada is being mentioned. Moncada is clearly the superior talent. He will get the starting 2nd base job as soon as he comes up. Yolmer will move to a utility role which is fine because he's not a starter on a contending team.
  21. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) It doesn't make sense for the Mets. The Nats likely aren't going to need the help with how weak their division is. Ah I see. I misread your post. But still, I think the Nationals will be buyers. They'll likely run away in the East but their bullpen is nowhere near playoff caliber.
  22. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 16, 2017 -> 05:21 PM) I think the bidding for Q will come down to the Cubs and Cards. Both have a need at SP and cost controlled SP at that. I don't see the Nats doing much to their rotation as they are likely to run away with that division in the second half and with all the injuries the Mets have, it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to be chasing a pennant this season. It doesn't make sense for them to chase a title now considering Harper will walk after 2018? I don't get that logic at all. If anything they should do whatever they can possibly do now to win this year and next.
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 16, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Combine Kopech's K/9 and Adams' BB/9 and the Sox have an HOFer. So pretty much they'd be Chris Sale.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) I will go because I love watching the game of baseball. Well yeah, but it's also nice to know that we could be watching a generational talent coming into his own each and every night.
