  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 06:34 PM) He could be this year’s Kahnle or Jenks. There are a lot of similarities with each. Ability to throw extreme gas. Has nice stuff. Like Kahnle, control and command a huge issue. Like Jenks, some past attitude issues, and girth. 100% agreed. And he's also controlled through 2021, so he could potentially be a long term bullpen piece if he can figure it out. I was really impressed with him this afternoon, let's hope that continues.
  2. Wouldn't surprise me if Rondon is the closer moving forward, he looked absolutely electric today.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 8, 2018 -> 05:20 PM) I just can’t believe that anyone truly thinks that he looks fine and is not struggling. This is absolutely nuts He has one of the highest exit velocities in all of baseball when he's made contact. He's simply unlucky right now.
  4. Lopez and Rondon looked amazing, that's good enough for me.
  5. No, no, no, and no. No.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 11:42 AM) Ha. I see you did what I did. Quoted Chicago White Sox's post and made a few tweaks. Lot of guys who could potentially end up in the pen so I didn't even bother thinking about the pen on my own. I was considering replacing Bruce Rondon with Danny Farquhar but the bullpen isn't too shabby all things considered. I don't really think Saladino is deserving of making the team but I picked him over Davidson just because he has more versatility...although it wouldn't shock me if the Sox sign another infielder at some point and they win the backup infielder job.

  8. Sox could grab Dickerson and let him DH, or put him in LF and let Delmonico DH. It's a win/win scenario either way, as adding Dickerson makes the Sox undoubtedly better.
  9. Just came here to say that the Sox should absolutely pick up Dickerson.
  10. This thread is pure gold.
  11. This guy has talent if the Sox can fix his attitude issues. Good signing. Zero risk, high reward.
  12. The Sox are going to finish 3rd in the Central. At the worst.
  13. Cease and Burger should've been on the list IMO but these rankings are ultimately just opinion based, it's not a big deal.
  14. QUOTE (KrankinSox @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 08:19 PM) Absolutely no shot the sox are taking on that Ellsbury contract. If they only have to take on part of it, I hope they at least consider it if they get quality prospects along with him. Braun's contract is just as bad FWIW.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 07:50 PM) I know it’s all speculation right now, but if you connect all the dots this actually makes sense: 1) Brewers sign Lorenzo Cain to discounted deal to play CF 2) Brewers take on Ellsbury’s contract in exchange for Chance Adams + second high end prospect 3) Brewers trade Brinson, other prospects, & Ellsbury to Sox for Carlos Sanchez These moves in aggregate make the Brewers a lot better IMO. Also, I’ll repeat it but I find it very interesting that the Sox & Sanchez haven’t come to a salary agreement yet over $300k. Just seems like a completely immaterial amount to not be able to find a happy median with. I would love this deal for the Sox. Ellsbury's contract sucks but it's worth it to get Brinson and possibly other prospects as well. And it's possible that the Yankees/Milwaukee could eat some of his contract too.
  16. Domingo Santana would be great, he had a great season last year and is controlled through 2022.
  17. Yolmer for Brinson.
  18. Shields just because of seniority. That's it.
  19. Can someone please explain to me why it seems like so many people dislike this trade? In essence, the Sox traded a superfluous middle infielder for two relievers. One of which is lefty and is pretty good and the other is only a short term piece. The Sox have the payroll flexibility to absorb Soria's contract and the Sox got a bit of money back in the deal anyway. Relief pitching was a massive need and Hahn killed two birds with one stone. Am I missing something?
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 10:22 PM) Lots of good players don't live up to their expectations their first full season. Lots of players take their lumps and the league adjusts. It happens. I know but I don't see any scenario in which the Sox are worse than last year.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 07:44 PM) Not really, no. Can you explain? I fail to see how the Sox would be so bad unless the young guys regressed and/or didn't live up to their expectations.
  22. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 07:09 PM) And a bullpen featuring....no one. I understand what you're trying to say, but there are a ton of variables at play when it comes to overall record. Of course. I just don't think they'll be that bad.
  23. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 06:37 PM) Actually the young guys need to improve a lot to even repeat last years result. -no half season of quintana -no kahle and Robertson -no todd frazier (wasn't great but at least like league average) -abreu is a year older and might regress a little -avi is due to some regression as he had a huge babip (fangraphs projects him for 2 wins less than last season) That is at least 7-8 wins going away. Will the young guys make up for all of that especially when eloy and kopech likely won't be up at least until august or so? On the flip side, the Sox will have full seasons from Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer, Delmonico, etc. My point is that if the Sox are so bad to the extent that they get another top 5 pick, 2018 will be a horrible failure.
  24. This would be so amazing. I'm not holding my breath at all but imagine if the Sox got him, made him the closer, and he thrived? He's controllable through 2021 so his value would be through the roof.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 12:53 PM) This team will have a top 5 pick this year. If that happens, it'd be safe to assume that the majority of the young players struggled really badly. It won't happen.
