The interesting thing to me is figuring out how in the heck you go about putting a team on the field for the next two seasons. It reminds me of expansion teams, where they have to feed off the scraps. I mean, it would be one UGLY season, like 50 wins. A season where we're all looking at Charlotte and Birmingham box scores every night. But the wave of talent -- considering it would be buttressed by likely back-to-back top-five picks in '18 and '19 -- arriving over the next two to four years would be IMMENSE. Well, this is typically what happens when a team completely tears it down from the top down. The next few years would be ugly (probably REALLY ugly), but the future would be really bright in theory if they make the right trades.

All in all, this is just me rambling but curious to get other's thoughts on what direction this team will actually go in. I actually think the opposite is true. Everyone is so focused on the Cubs right now that it's the perfect time for the Sox to tear everything down if they choose to do so. All the casual fans are rooting for the Cubs right now anyway, so the Sox are an afterthought right now to everyone besides die-hard Sox fans. If the Sox play their cards right, they could have a young core and be in contention like the Cubs by 2018 or 2019.

Collins is so intriguing to me. I doubt he'll be ready to come up next year and I don't think he'll stick at catcher, but he supposedly has an elite bat that can play anywhere. I think he ends up at first base or DH.

This is a really classy thread though. I doubt Cubs fans would make a thread like this on their message board if the roles were reversed.

I'll be upset if Sale goes, but I care more about the team than I do him. If trading him makes the Sox younger and better, I'm all for it.
