Slater oblique strain
And all that reinforces my original point. These guys aren’t super young anymore. They are what, 26 or 27? If they are still at the point where they have to prove themselves in AAA, then why are they on the 40-man? Surely some other teams scraps have to be a better option to take up space on the 40-man than mid 20’s players who can’t even hit in AAA.

The way I see it, they need to figure out what they have in guys like Colas and Fletcher by the end of the season. Either they can be part of the long term plans or they’re not. If Getz is intent on keeping them, they both need substantial MLB at-bats this season for evaluation purposes.

You make a lot of fair points. On one hand, the fact that they signed so many stopgap outfielders this offseason indicates that they really don’t believe in Colas and Fletcher that much. Yet at the same time, they believe in them enough to favor them over other external fringe options like Canario, Stone Garrett, etc which feels like some degree of loyalty. I really don’t know what their plan is.

Because neither of them deserve to have a spot on the 40-man at this point. Yet they are still here.

Even a guy like Stone Garrett would have made sense after all these injuries. I just don’t understand Getz. He’s seemingly loyal to these fringe guys like Colas and Fletcher but not loyal enough to actually give them extended opportunities to prove themselves at the MLB level.

2025 MLB Draft
I want the best available player of course, but at some point I think they will face diminishing returns if they keep drafting pitchers in the first round. They desperately need bats. Unless they draft pitchers, develop them, and then trade them for more proven bats.

I’m in the camp that would have rather had Canario than Slater. We know what Slater is. Even if he’s good, he won’t be here for long and will only fetch a lottery ticket type prospect at best. Canario might not ever be anything, but he’s significantly younger and clearly has some sort of talent considering he’s made it this far. It’s a shame they didn’t make a move for him considering all the injuries that have happened subsequently.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Like I said, it might not mean anything. But given the timeline of all this, I do think it’s interesting that he started following a bunch of Sox related accounts within the last day or so.

2025 MLB Draft
Who are we hoping the Sox take at #10? I know it’s early but still.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Doesn’t feel like a coincidence given that today was the rumored day where he would buy more shares. But maybe I’m overthinking it. Haha.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
It was like 3 PM this afternoon. Not 100% sure it’s him, but I think it is.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Not that it means anything, but he followed me and several other Sox accounts on Twitter today. Felt it was worth mentioning.

2025-26 FA Class: How would you spend Ishbia's millions?
Yeah I’m just playing around. A guy like Marcell Ozuna feels like a Sox signing. And then he’ll promptly fall off a cliff statistically as soon as he puts on a Sox uniform.

I had no problem with any of those signings at the time. The problem was that all those guys should have been complementary signings to a star like Harper or Machado.

Tucker, Vlad Jr., Cease, Arraez, and Devin Williams. I want $1 billion in spending.

Sox Spring Training notes
Good to know, thanks. Could definitely help his trade value in that case.

How does that work then if he signed a one year deal this offseason? The Sox can still retain him via arbitration for 2026 if they chose to?

Good bloodlines too. I’d draft him.

Is he actually good? Or is this a Juan Uribe Jr. situation?

Tuesday - 2/25/25 - Sox at Rox spring training
This season is a wash anyway. If Martin has a good first half or season and some team offers a promising hitter for him, they should at least consider it.

Feel like Martin could turn himself into a nice little trade chip with a strong first half. Lots of cheap team control.

Berroa elbow "discomfort"
Fair point.

Berroa elbow "discomfort"
In Getz’s defense, Santos and Mena haven’t done much of anything either. Looks like trash for garbage to this point. The Cease trade, yeah that’s rough.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
I read he’s from Michigan but is based in Chicago so you might be onto something. He’s also not that old. But still, if I were him I would prefer to have this process done ASAP as opposed to being in a holding pattern for an indefinite period of time.
