  1. Is there any legitimacy to this? https://www.bluejaysinsider.com/mlb-team/toronto-blue-jays/toronto-blue-jays-closing-in-on-trade-with-the-chicago-white-sox-for-luis-robert-jr
  2. Fair points. I’d say Vargas and Sosa are the starters at 3B and 2B on Opening Day because they are out of options. Colson maybe at SS if he has a good spring. Vaughn at 1B. Maybe they can rotate at DH some. There is a logjam to an extent, but hopefully there will be enough at-bats to go around to evaluate all these guys.
  3. The Sox need help everywhere. If the Mets are basically giving Baty away, they might as well take him. Could give him a shot at 3B and move Vargas to 1B. Or move Baty to 1B. Just need to accumulate talent.
  4. Truthfully I don’t really care how many games they lose this year as long as these younger players show some type of progress. At least there is a potential benefit to losing now unlike last year.
  5. If they trade with the Mets, they might as well take Baty as a change of scenery type. Nothing to lose.
  6. It would be one thing if they were bringing in veterans with actual upside as trade chips. But realistically, if a guy like Slater or Tauchman has a strong first half, what are they even going to get for them? Lotto tickets in Low A? These fringe guys like Colas, Fletcher, and DeLoach likely won’t amount to anything but this should be the year where they evaluate all these internal options. By the end of the season, they need to figure out who could be part of the future and who isn’t.
  7. I don’t disagree. I’d rather see the Colas and DeLoach’s of the world get auditions than waste at-bats on Michael A. Taylor and Austin Slater. I think last year was so bad that Getz is almost overcorrecting too much from a depth standpoint on the position player side.
  8. They needed bodies but don’t have any money to spend. This is what happens. A bunch of low upside garbage.
  9. So is Marco Paddy no longer with the organization?
  10. As they say, pitching wins championships. I don’t think Baltimore has enough of that.
  11. They have no quality starting pitching other than Grayson Rodriguez and refuse to spend money to get difference makers in the rotation. They are going to piss away their window because of that.
  12. Those guys cost money. The White Sox like shopping in the dollar store.
  13. I wouldn’t complain if they traded for Rice, but they might as well give Elko a chance too since he’s already in the organization.
  14. I believe so. If Boston was going to DFA this guy, then yeah giving up a prospect looks bad when they could have just claimed him eventually. But perhaps other teams inquired on him too. He doesn’t have much of a track record but cheap and controllable lefty relievers with good stuff aren’t easy to find.
  15. It’s ridiculous but the only silver lining is that they actually can hopefully get the #1 pick this time by being that bad again. But knowing this team, they will probably get screwed in the lottery.
  16. I think it’s more of a 40-man roster crunch on Boston’s part than Booser not being good. They probably want to make more additions and need spots on the 40.
  17. Saw he quit baseball entirely for a bit and then played in the independent leagues. Cool story. Hope he carves out a role here.
  18. At least this Booser guy has a lot of team control. Perhaps he’s just a late bloomer.
  19. I didn’t have trading for a 32 year old reliever on my bingo card this offseason.
  20. This is basically my logic. Tucker > Robert obviously but the years of control are a big factor here. They also have a big need in the outfield. Just wish they had a better system.
  21. I wrote this, thanks for sharing. It’s a tough situation because I feel Robert is a really good fit for Houston given their outfield right now, but their farm is just so bad. Smith is a non-negotiable for me. I was debating between Melton and Brice Matthews as the second piece. I went Melton because he is a left handed hitting outfielder. Astros fans replied to me and said it’s too much to give up. I figured that would be their reply. They absolutely need to do something about their outfield though. It’s atrocious.
  22. We are so overdue for something to go our way. This would change everything.
