  1. The money aspect doesn't matter though, since they're just paying him to go away now as a sunk cost. Goodwin is currently providing value with the bat, Eaton hasn't since April. Eaton is (probably) better defensively than Goodwin, but Engel and Hamilton are better than the both of them defensively. To me, it came down to this. Do you want output with the bat or the glove right now with your other OFer? This move seems more about having the better hitter right now available in the OF rotation/off the bench over riding with the worse hitting, but slight defensive upgrade. When Eloy and Robert come back, I don't picture Goodwin sticking around all that long, but that's also assuming relative health of the OFers on the roster now.
  2. At this point Goodwin is the superior player, so it makes sense to keep him over Spanky.
  3. I know everyone is hurt, but what a lineup.
  4. I'd never thought I'd see the day where Trevor Story isn't needed on the White Sox because Leury Garcia has now got his batting average up to .251.
  5. I think Eaton is only around until Engel, Eloy, and Robert come back. I think Hamilton and what he brings to the club will stick around, and if Goodwin continues to hit, I think he's a fine 5thish OF type. Eaton is here because they literally need someone capable of playing in the OF, and with all the injuries, there just aren't all that many better options right now.
  6. Hector getting got by an Onion-esque site clears that whole thing up lol. Someone initially sent that to me and I was so confused as to what was going on.
  7. Strained right flexor pronator for Marshall. Going to need Soxtalk's resident doctor to chime in here and explain this situation to me like I'm 5 years old.
  8. Posters advocating for actively trying to hurt an opposing player, Welcome to Soxtalk!
  9. Up to a 958 OPS for the season, and after the big night, is now slashing .296/.344/.478 with an 822 OPS vs RHP.
  10. Generally speaking, not a good sign.
  11. They're definitely an intriguing club to watch with the mix of young talent they have there. I want to head out there at some point in the next couple years and hit all the Sox NC affiliates in one trip.
  12. BuT hE hAsN't PlAyEd ThE oF yEt!
  13. They were terrible in May, have been much improved in June. Looks like 2-22 in May if I counted right.
  14. Injuries have really derailed him year after year. It's easy to see the tools when he's on a heater (and healthy), he has just never really stayed on the field all that consistently in his tenure here. Hopefully he's able to keep swinging it well and build up more value with the bat to get an opportunity with a rebuilding club. Can't really see him getting a long (hell, even a partial) look here in 2021 or once he's out of options.
