  4. You're joking right? After seeing this guy go out to the mound for almost 3 seasons now and be a .500 pitcher with NINTENDO-like stuff, I've pretty much given up on him and I am forced to take the bad with the good. Javy has been far from impressive with the pressure on, thus far, in a small second half sample. And all Javy's jockers keep telling me that he's a second half pitcher.
  5. Didn't see much of it. But from what I did see, I can say that it was, without a shadow of a doubt, better than anything Dane Cook has ever done. I at least chuckled during Dana Carvey.
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) The thing is that Artie's bread and butter is the comedy club circuit not he Stern show. The Stern show is a great promotional tool for him but I do not think it would pay the bills like the comedy circuit would long term. He is kind of caught on what to do there. I personally think he could do his own show and would be pretty good at it as he has gotten better on the Stern show. The comedy club circuit is Artie's bread and butter because of the Stern Show. Artie was a nobody in comedy before sitting in Jackie's chair and will, probably, return to nobody status if he leaves or is kicked off. Ask Jackie Martling
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 07:07 AM) There's been a few other similar incidents with Fred, but I think that was the biggest. I remember the "Rainbow Room" broadcast. Radio Gold. The other one I remember with Fred is when Howard went through the martians briefcase. Fred found out and went ballistic on the air and threatened, again, to walk out.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) The thing is, is that his show is almost commercial free now as oppossed to the 20 minute commercial breaks when he was on KROK. While his show has some guests that are pretty meaningless he still has about 4-5 hours of daily entertaining programming which is pretty incredible. Arte brings a real guy mentality into the studio that was missing. He seems like normal dude as comapred to what Jackie was. He is normal and pretty funny as well. I understand that also. You can tell just how much of his terrestrial show was commercials during MTT. MTT starts at 6 and is usually over around 8:30-8:45 even with the Sirius commercials included. And yes, Artie has his moments. But "real guy" mentality? If talking about gambling, drinking, whoring, and the Yankees makes Artie a "real guy" then yes, he brings this to the table. But most "real guys" would know where their bread is buttered and not call-in sick every so often after playing 5 comedy clubs over the weekend at $6000 an appearance and whine about it.
  9. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) He's in the twilight of his career, and has set back his hours. It still beats everything else out there. What you going to listen to, Eric and Kathy? Did you listen this morning? I enjoyed Jay Thomas followed by Bubba on 101. I did. Can do without Jay Thomas. Bubba is all right and I like Ferrall. I'm not bashing Howard. I'm just saying, IMHO, Howard has gotten lazy and has not come through on what was promised when he asked his listener's to pay to listen to him. He can barely fill up one channel with fresh programming and he was, at one point, talking about 3 channels chock full of new, original shows.
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) The drive home was a replay of Monday's show, ugh. As far as relevance is concerned Howard's show on Sirius is amazing and Arte Lang is a big reason why. Replaying the Monday show after Artie got physical with a show staffer again and walked out was a joke. What the hell am I paying $12.95 a month for? I guess I'm one of the few that thinks Howard has been mailing it in since, "The Revolution." A 4-day work week, a weeks vacation seemingly every second or third week, 9 out of 10 guests are of little or no consequence, etc. While never a big fan of Bubba the Love Sponge, he works longer hours, does 2 shows a day (terrestrial and satellite), works a 5-day work week, has limited vacations, etc. And at least with Ferrall, I can guarantee myself entertaining sports talk minus the American Idol and Dancing with the Stars BS which, I think most Stern fans, can care less about. As far as Artie goes, WAAAA!!!!! Cry me a river fat ass. WAAAA!!!!!
  11. Lou Malnati's is decent to slightly above decent at best. I, myself, prefer a thin crust pizza and Chicago has thin crust pizzeria's that blow NY's thin crust grease paper away.

    Micro Brews

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) Most modern interpretations are now in the 6-8% range, and even Saison Dupont (which most people consider to be the premiere example of the style - seek it out) comes in at 5%. The micro I'm currently still in love with is Dogfish Head out of Deleware. If you are a hop-head, you'll go nuts for these. Their year-round 90 Minute IPA is my favorite year-round big beer available today and the occasional (three releases a year) 120 Minute IPA (12% abv and a whopping 120 ibu hopping rate) is unbelievable. i've been less impressed with some of the artisinal seasonal stuff (Raison D'Extra, Immort Ale), but it's still worth a spin. My personnal favorite saison-style is Fantome I agree whole-heartily with you on Dogfish Head. 60 and, especially 90 Minute IPA's are a thing to behold and consume. Two of my absolute faves. Some of their seasonal and special brews are noteworthy, but some of the stuff they brew should come with a skull and crossbones on the bottle because it cannot be brewed for any other reason but to get you drunk and drunk quick. The exception to this rule is Dogfish Head's World Wide Stout..... a big beer that doesn't taste big and is quite palatable for, what I believe, is 18%. Three Floyd's is my personal favorite brewery for all around tasty and award winning styles. My fridge is currently stocked with 2, 1, and new born Darklord's, 2 and 1 year old Behemoth Barleywines, and 4 Fantabulous Resplendence "X" ales. On an end note, if you try and like Dogfish Head's 60 and 90 Minute IPA's, try Three Floyd's Alpha King and Dreadnaught.
  15. To all you high and mighty's out there, you know damn well race would be a HUGE factor if this was a black passenger beaten by a white mob. Sharpton and Jackson would see to it. But, seeing as the mob was black and the victim hispanic, don't expect any "righteous" outcry from the 2 aforementioned.
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:31 PM) Yeah, I thought it was weird. Whatever, I just want to get my tickets ahead of time and make sure I go. Can't wait to smell Beetlejuice's breath! Will Darth Nihilus be making an appearance w/Beetlejuice?
  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 2, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) A few weeks ago a pornstar wanted me to come with her to the bar and buy me a drink and I rejected her. I have been thinking about it each day since. As Tony Soprano said to Dr. Melfi about Vito..... "He's a f**!!!!!"
  18. QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Something just seemed like it was missing last night. I cant seem to put my finger on it though..... Talent? Originality?
  19. Making Anderson the DH last night was laughable. After all, isn't a DH supposed to be able to hit? Too bad Dye and Thome were hurting. Anderson was the last person I wanted up with bags juiced and 2 outs in the 9th during somewhat of a rally. Gimme Erstad everyday at this point.
  20. I saw Dan and his truck on Opening Day
  21. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Mencia isn't funny in the least. After Mencia is dealt with, I hope someone goes after Dane Cook. His HBO show gives me douche chills everytime I flip over it. In both their cases, thank God for remotes.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 07:54 AM) Well, the Billy West Spotlight series on Howard 100 the last 2 days was worth the money, espically the "Jackie Puppet" segment. The "Jackie Puppet" segment was funny and was Billy West's best contribution to Stern's Show. Having said that, I got Sirius for Stern. While I didn't begrudge him a vacation for the obvious times of year (2 weeks for Summer, 1 week for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Xmas/New Years) when he started up at Sirius, it now seems like he's taking a god damn vacation every 3rd week. Not to mention, he's only doing 4 live shows a week when he's not on a god damn vacation. I find myself listening to the music stations and various other stations 3 times a week now cause I'm not a big fan of "Master Tape Theatre" on Friday's and that is NOT what I got Sirius for. If I wanted to listen to music, I'd have used the $$$ for an I-Pod. Stern has an obligation to his listener's that forked over $$$ for ORIGINAL shows and, IMHO, he's borderline not delivering. Just my 2 cents.
