WBC-Quintana's Start-USA v COL
So far, Quintana has tossed a no hitter through 5 innings against the USA team. Around 50 pitches so far. Should they let him continue pitching with his pitch count getting up there? Also, do you think this performance raises his trade value?

3/9 vs Diamondbacks
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) Has Yolmer Sanchez been in the organization longer than any other player? I think Q has been here longer but he might be the only one

Rebuild hardest on JR
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) "Hahn thought the club truly signaled its direction when it hired manager Rick Renteria and promoted Nick Capra to third-base coach and Curt Hasler to bullpen coach. All three have significant player development roots." You definitely have to have ML coaches who have player development roots on the ML roster when doing a massive rebuild. But it may be more important to also have them at the minor league level where the majority of the development should occur. Hopefully that has or will be addressed especially since the bulk of the young players are not ML ready yet. So does that mean the offering of Robin Ventura a managerial job for the 2017 season was just a publicity stunt, or did they really think they could do a successful rebuild with him at the helm?

Report: MLB Plans To Test Extra-Innings Rule Change In Lower Level Min
Baseball is just a naturally slow paced game, with the occasional roller coaster game. The only way they are going to drastically change anything will be by changing its nature... like having timed innings instead of a certain number of outs, or changing it from 3 outs to 2 our something like that. The game is fine as is. Everyone these days just wants everything to be fast... don't fix something that ain't broke!!

Lawrie/Garcia could be non-tenders
If Avi goes byebye, I believe that Tilson has a starting outfield position next season.

Four year control guys off the table(JQ,Nate,Eaton)
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) And it is also the truth. The longer term guys are available if the offer is great enough. I don't think the offers will be great enough. A lot of what I see of people expecting certain prospects in return for Sale just isn't going ot happen IMO. I mean, read some of the comments on this article: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/209143000/wh...for-chris-sale/ No fan of any team wants Sale in exchange for almost MLB-ready prospects, and I don't think any GM will give what the Sox are demanding. Here is what I think is likely going to happen: Sale won't get traded because the Sox never got the package that warrants a Sale trade. Everyone gets pissed off because they think the White Sox are incompetent and don't know how to get a deal done. Well, I'd rather keep Sale and Q than trade them for something that isn't worth it. I'm not sure what the answer is to making this team good again, but it definitely isn't trading our best players for crap. I would be all for trading them for a haul of good prospects, but I just don't think it is going to happen.

MLB considering 26 man roster
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) I think that teams should be allowed to carry 26 players but have an inactive roster spot. So its game one of the season and my inactive player is my game 2 starter, its game two of the season and my inactive player is my game one starter for example. I don't understand the point of having the inactive roster spot...why not just leave them as active.

Interesting 2016 stats
http://www.southsidesox.com/2016/11/16/136...s-handbook-2017 Interesting 2016 stats in this article... Among the most notable in my opinion: Robin Ventura led the league by using relievers on consecutive days 128 times, and nobody in the American League was close. He also led the league in slow hooks for the fourth consecutive year and long outings for a second. Alex Avila’s walks were the least valuable in the league, resulting in only .231 runs per walk. *Jose Abreu hit 556 foul balls, second to only Brandon Belt (580) and well above the totals from his first two years (480 and 460).

Will Brett Lawrie be Non-Tendered?
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) Maybe I'm looking too far into it, but he just tweeted this: "Truly a journey" I don't see what the point of non-tendering him would be, so maybe they'll tender and then trade him. Eh, that could mean anything

2017 Season TicketPrice Increase
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) No, I received those last year. My package cost $297 a ticket last year for all Weekend games and 1 Cubs. Even on groupon the lower eserved with patio is at least $50, so 2 of those, a season ticket holder party before the season and during the season with free food and drink. Plus they give you discounts up to 5 % on next season determined by the percentage of your tickets that were used. Can you name another MLB team I can get anywhere close to that? Seriously...i can't believe some people are complaining about White Sox ticket prices...go get a Cubs package or some other big market team and see if you're still complaining about Sox ticket prices.

2017 Season TicketPrice Increase
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) I'm getting the impression the organization doesn't really care what the fans think. I received my renewal season ticket package this week. I've called my sales rep a few times to get some information about my package. She hasn't called me back as of yet. Looking at the season ticket brochure it seems to me that they don't have alot of sales reps working for them. You would think somebody would have the decency to call me back. I'm getting the feeling that the organization is really preparing for a real bad 2017 White Sox baseball season. I hope I'm wrong but that's how I'm reading this. Other teams have already made some moves to improve their teams for 2017. The White Sox have done nothing so far. It's the 2nd week of the offseason...calm down.

White Sox listening on Frazier
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) Yeah, that's exactly what a rebuilding team should be interested in. Relievers. In terms of Frazier, unless someone is willing to overpay, I'd be alright with an extension. If they go full rebuild, every position can't be a 23 year old. It doesn't work that way. Over his career Frazier has always been known to be a leader, solid in the clubhouse and can be used effectively in marketing materials (I know that isn't that important, but it does play a minor role). Given Frazier value on the market, how much an extension would cost, a 3 year deal would be fine, if he was open to sticking around during a rebuild. I actually remember Frazier saying once in a conversation this year he specifically said he wants to stay in Chicago, whether that means rebuilding or not. I remember him specifically saying that, and I hope he does.

Tim Anderson tied for 4th in DRS
Wasn't Anderson's defense considered a liability when they called him up? If memory serves, then this statistic is quite the nice surprise. I for one think Anderson will be the Sox top all-around player for the next few years, regardless of the direction they decide to take. You know Anderson is sticking around, and he is something to get excited about.

Fangraphs Article
To be 100% honest, I've been leaning more toward the White Sox should be buyers and get the guys like Encarnacion and Rich Hill and try to get a Ramos or trade for a Lucroy and sign Cespedes or something unreasonable. The more I see posts and articles giving sound reason as to why the Sox should sell, I believe I am now part of the group that wants the Sox to sell. The only player that I would hate to see go is Quintana, and a little bit Abreu. Both are hard working guys who go about their elite business in a quiet and humble way. But hearing how much talent the Sox could possibly get in return is very alluring. Maybe the Sox didn't make those trades at the deadline for a reason and actually knew what they were doing...waiting to get a better package in the off season.

Zach Duke Tommy John Surgery
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) He was throwing just fine when he left. I'm pretty sure if memory serves he was the most reliable one in that pen in 2016, aside from Jones. No indication of injury at all.

Conor Gillaspie hits game winning homerun
QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) I mean first and foremost I just want the Cubs to lose. But I still have some fondness for Conor - unlike Samardzija - so I'd rather see him be the one killing them the most. Jeff Samardzija is so overrated and overpaid. Didn't make it through 3 innings against the cubs...his shortest start ever and his first postseason start.

Rumors that Cespedes is opting out
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) I mean, it's one thing if he's late 30s like LaRoche or Rollins, but Cespedes is literally 30. Is he though?
