"objective opinion" is oxymoronic. Just part of the LaRussa derangement syndrome that has consumed some fans like politics has. Accept that Tony is the White Sox Manager and that Biden is President. It is what it is, like it or not.

Gio was masterful and his change-up was just awesome. Jake Lamb's double and that bunt call by TLaR were huge. Leury was great and I love the defensive play by Vaughn for the double play. All good, except for some fans trying to start sh1t.

The TLR Manager Thread
Players should heed their Manager's direction. The take sign was on and everybody knew it. It was a foolish and selfish move by Yermin. He is still one of my favorite players but that was a cheap shot and whether or not you think it was, the other team and their fans did. In basketball when a team has an insurmountable lead near the end of the game, BOTH teams put their scrubs in. It is an unwritten rule. There is a reason for that. You don't send LeBron in to put a dunk demonstration on. Hard to teach some people lessons that they refuse to learn, including good sportsmanship. Carry on.

Old school baseball would have called for Mercedes to get a shave at 95mph on his next plate appearance, You don't let a guy show you up, show your team up, and show your fans up in their stadium. It's that simple. Baldelli asked for something that was intended to make the same point as the old school knock-down pitch, without risking injury. If you handled it differently as Twins manager OK but your fans and players would think you were a pussy.

So Sorry. Yea that would have worked to calm this down.

If this happened to the White Sox at our park and Tony pussy-ed out and did nothing in response most of you would be apoplectic.

What would you have done if you were Baldelli? Nothing?

The issue was not what Yermin did. It was what Baldelli did in response.

The TLR Manager Thread
So this is how it breaks down: 1. Should Yermin have teed off on the pitch to increase the lead in the 9th inning to 12 runs? You can agree or disagree. but set that aside, because it happened and some consequence should have been expected. 2. Should Baldelli have had his pitcher throw a softball message pitch (not a bean ball at his head) to support his players who felt that they were being shown up in front of their fans in their own stadium? So this was a multiple choice question for Baldelli : a. You think that a slow pitch not intended to bean Mercedes was appropriate. b. You think that kind of pitch was not enough to send a meaasge and it should have been the typical old school Don Drysdale 90+ mph high heat at the bill of Yermin's helmet? c. You think that a soft"purpose pitch" was totally inappropriate because: 1. Managers should never use a purpose pitch like that to make a point. 2. The matter was concluded after Yermin trotted around the bases to score the 16th run . Thus it would have been better to simply let the controversy simmer and possibly blow up in a brawl) Forget what Baldelli did or maybe LaRussa or another Manager would have done. What would you have done?

Stop saying that they threw at Yermin. They didn't. The ball was thrown low and slow bouncing in behind his feet. That wasn't bean ball . None of the White Sox took it that way, not even Yermin. It was simply made as a counterpoint to what was kind of an @hole in-yo-face move by Yermin, No harm, no foul but they made a point. Don't show us up at our own ballpark with shenanigans like that. And they did it without endangering Yermin or causing a bench clearing brawl. That is precisely how it should have been handled. My only difference with LaRussa's decisions in that game was deciding to allow Bummer to pitch to Sano with first base open....after he hit 2 home runs. LaRussa played it by the book, - don't walk and allow the winning run to come to the plate. But again, I would have gone against the book on that one. Tony probably feels the same way in hindsight. I also am starting to get concerned about our bullpen and Andrew Vaughn. Vaughn is starting to look like easy pickings for pitchers with decent sliders. Vaughn does not seem to be effective with two strikes and has disappointed in numerous clutch situations.

Tony sends Lamb and picks up another run !

Tony has the Sox up one run by putting Lamb in the line-up ...and he still has a challenge card in his pocket. Sometimes you teach, sometimes you learn, and sometimes you get taught.

Yoan is GG D at third. Some here claimed that he should stay at second base claiming that second base was his "natural position."

Tie goes to the runner Irrefutable evidence is required to overturn the call on the field If you lose the challenge , you don't have another one for the rest of the game. All things considered in the few seconds after looking at the replay, I understand the decision.

Alternating RH and LH hitters in the line-up can aggravated some pitchers. No matter what Tony does, he will never be given credit. However, once the team goes into an inevitable slump/ losing streak it will all be blamed on him. I have felt like that at times...no credit for anything but oh boy, should I make a mistake..

If Lamb doesn't start hitting and Burger keeps raking, do you think the Sox would DFA Lamb and bring up Jake? I was just imagining an outfield of Burger, Hamilton and Vaughn...and how crazy that would be. Tony likes to experiment with the players/line-ups and would probably try it.

How to Crush the AL, Rick Hahn...creating a true superteam
I think we will be set in the outfield without acquiring any outfielders after this season Robert, Eloy and Engel returning plus Cespy, Colas, and Vaughn who is even showing he could play RF.
