There was one interview where JR said that if his sons kept a team, it would be the Bulls, but he did not indicate that they would sell the team, nor have there been any indications from them that they would. His sons are great people and would be great if Jerry steps aside at some point. It is my opinion that the Reinsdorf family will continue treating the White Sox like a family franchise.

Sox were not very good last year so it is not going to far out on a limb to suggest that they might be better this year. If you just look at the 2016 Opening Day roster it is not hard to imagine that, even without Sale and Eaton, this team could be somewhat of an improvement. There have been a lot of additions by subtraction off of that 2016 roster: John Danks, Matt Latos, Matt Albers, Austin Jackson (given that he did not play most of the year), Jimmy Rollins, Brett Lawrie... And Robertson, who blew a lot of critical leads and games will likely be traded before too long.

Shields may be cut before Opening Day. It almost looks like he is intentionally pitching poorly so he can get an early paid retirement. No way should the Sox have traded for him. So please, go ahead and cut Shields. That would actually help the pitching staff by not having to cover the remaining innings in games where he gets the hook early. Quntana, Rodon, Miguel Gonzales, Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer, and Holland (and maybe others) are all better options than Shields for the starting rotation. And unlike Shields, every one of them truly wants to win every game they pitch. The Sox made a mistake last season by having John Danks in the rotation to start the season because they were reticient to cut a guy they owed millions of dollars to. So they eventually had to cut him and pay him, but Danks left us with several losses to boot, including the Opening Day loss. Don't make the same mistake. Bite the bullet, eat his salary, and release him.

I would have preferred Benentendi and Devers to Moncada and Kopech based on what the team needs.

One cannot want the team to tank but then suggest signing a washed up player as a LH DH because the line-up lacks power. The sooner Collins and Moncada are brought up, the sooner they start getting the experience they need. Minor league experience is overrated and can be counterproductive to players who can get too comfortable there and accustomed to lower expectations and an inferior level of competition. Collins can catch a few games here and there and get major league at bats as a platoon LH DH or pinch hitter. Moncada can share time with Saladino. The rebuilding process involves trading veteran players and bringing up the top prospects to see if they can compote at this level and to gain major league experience.

Brent Lawrie should try to play Left field , otherwise he will have a tough time making the 25 man roster.

Zack Colliins, as a Left handed DH and third string catcher would make some sense. Matt Davidson as a Right Handed DH second string third basemen might also make some sense.

If fans are this sensitive to losing a meaningless ST game like this, how wilt they tolerate a long term rebuild? I just have the Sox logo on the webcast link. No picture or sound.

I am hoping the Roberts and his agent chose to sign with the White Sox even if they do not place the highest bid under whatever rules are in place. Do whatever possible to get him. This rebuild needs some good news.

The White Sox need outfielders. Any trades that involve Quintana, Robertson or Frazier should be focused on getting the best outfielder(s) possible in return. I would want an outfielder in the top 100 or close to that for Robertson and an outfielder in or near the top 10 for Quintana. The Nats need to see what kind of pitcher they can get for Severino from other teams. Good luck with that.

Teams that are going for it make trades in large measure based on what they need to have. The greater and more imminent that need is, the more they will give up in return. If the Nat's relief core starts blowing games they may have to cough up Robles for a reliever or relievers. Well OK, Robertson plus Nate Jones won't be enough to get Robles, but if the Nats get desperate for a Closer, they are going to have to unload talent to some team at some point, especially if they want a Closer that is ranked higher than Robertson. It's their problem, not Rick Hahn's. He already schtooped them. If they want it again, call Rick.
