Update: Machado met with Sox
Good thing it's nice weather today. If it was a shitty 10 degrees I'm sure that could hurt your chances as dumb as that seems

Plan if Sox miss out on Harper/Machado
I think they want Grandal regardless of if they get Harper/Machado. If they miss on Harper I think they sign Brantley
-
Dodgers looking to move Alex Wood and one of their outfielders
If Dodgers can trade Wood and an OF we can say goodbye to Harper.

Happ close to deal with Yankees - Rosenthal
Pitching market is going fast.. Batters are not

Rule 5 preview
Anyone have any guys they'd love to take in the draft? Also how does the MiLB rule 5 work? That's how we got Mercedes if I remember correctly? How are you eligible for that draft?

White Sox interested in reliever Joe Kelly
I never cared about ages of a RP. I think they're volatile regardless of age and feel like many grandpa's continue pitching well in RP role. So I don't mind pursuiong 30+ year old RPs even if we aren't contending next year

Michael Brantley to Astros 2/32M
Goodness he NEVER and i mean NEVER strikes out.. Maybe this is for a good leadership presense for the young guys (Moncada and Anderson) to learn from.. Maybe like Bryant learned from Zobrist

Corbin has become top target
I agree I don't really want Corbin for 25 mil a year. However, he was a super top prospect at one time, had good seasons prior to TJ and had an amazing season this year both in normal stats and even better in newer stats like FIP and xFIP. The only way this makes sense is if the Sox truely believe he is someone who is a "late bloomer" like Kluber, Hill and many others. If they think his arm can hold up with all those sliders and that he can produce than I'll trust the org.

Your Offseason Plan
Ew. Kyle Seagar hasn't ever lived up to his potential. He never really grew from his first full year. Hard pass.

Your Offseason Plan
No one would trade Senzel for Moncada.. Senzel is the far better prospect now. But I do like fun ideas/proposals

Your Offseason Plan
Everyone is assuming Machado will sign for 10 years, around 350 (that's what the vast majority use).. That's an average yearly value of 35 mil.. What if we differentiated ourselves by going 12 years at 400 million. Drops the AAV to 33 mil and his final year will be at age 38 (yes risky) instead of 36. Is that two years really worth not getting him if this is enough? This will differentiate ourselves assuming everyone sticks on the 10 year plan. Offer opt outs after 4 years and 8 years. No he probably wouldn't be worth 33 mil in his age 35+ seasons but I believe his early years will makeup for that. Thoughts from everyone but Greg and Jack? lol
- Sox have "flexibility" to add "long term pieces"

Moncada ADD

Sonny Gray
It will take a back-end top 100 guy for Gray. And because of that, I will pass.

2019 MLB draft thread
This all makes me want Vaughn now (If Adley isn't available). A college hitter with good D seems like someone who would rise fast to the MLB too
