Clearly wasn't worried about winning.

Seeing 3/$24M. If so, not a bad deal at all for the Twinkies.

Well, substantially less than I thought he'd get.

Without Donald Fehr involved, I'm optimistic they'll work it out. Amazing how some adult fans have no memory of the 94-95 strike. 21 years without a stoppage is pretty amazing considering how bad it was for decades.

Now that Castro has signed with the Twins, I can't help but wonder who the White Sox are going to have as their catcher in 2017. Are they going to bring back Avila? Are they interested in Wieters?

Either 1) they sign a right-handed hitting back up to pair with Narvaez and act as a mentor (Ryan Hanigan?), 2) bring back Avila, and 3) probably very unlikely, they sign Ramos to an inflated one year deal to attempt to flip or get a draft pick for next offseason.

No one thought of Trump or Brexit. Until a deal is done, it isn't done and a lock out is looming. Come on owners and players...resolve this thing.

has anyone seen any talk of what the holdup is? They were talking about having this done before the WS ended.

From what I understand the Players Association wants teams in free agency to not forfeit picks for signing a free agent with compensation attached. Instead, they want the team losing said free agent to still receive a compensation draft choice, while the signing team wouldn't give one up. Manfred/the owners want to instill an International draft. It's kind of a tradeoff of one thing for the other.

The players are fine with the changes to the compensation system. They aren't fine with the International Draft though and it's not a fair trade off. The QO affects like 8-15 guys per year that are staring at $17 million. THe International Draft keeps wages down for a huge segment of players.

I understand that. Maybe I worded it wrong. Manfred wants the international draft. As a tradeoff for agreeing to an international draft, the PA is seeking changes to free agent compensation. Negotiation tactics for both sides.

If the union has shown one thing it is that they will trade the good of people not on the 40 man roster, for the better of those who are.

International Draft vs. Draft Pick Compensation attached to qualifying FA's (Owners want international draft and will give players no more draft picks (at least directly). Players say that isn't enough and that giving owners the international draft would be a far bigger coup since it impacts a far greater percentage of players (major and minor leaguers) then those players with draft picks attached to them.

Players are open to expanded drug Testing but want other concessions. Honestly, I don't see this getting done (without a lockout) if owners stick to their guns regarding an international draft.

.@Dbacks acquire RHP Taijuan Walker, INF Ketel Marte from @Mariners for INF Jean Segura, OF Mitch Haniger, LHP Zac Curtis. #HotStove

Arizona won that deal!!!

Hey look, a real trade! That surly also helps enforce the value of Sale / Q.

Did they?

Did they?

If Segura stays good and Walker/Marte don't develop then... no

Segura just put up a 5 bWAR season and Walker hasn't had more than a 1.5bWAR year. They're getting two extra years with Walker... I know very little about the other pieces. If anything - Arizona must really believe in Walkers potential. Surely this confirms the value of our chips.

Walker still has a ton of upside, but it's in the same erratic/inconsistent way that Rodon does...

Imagine if we got that return for, let's say, Rodon and Frazier (or Saladino), would anyone be happy? Segura was almost a non-tender guy last offseason and had a huge bounceback year, but can you count on that if you look at his numbers year by year?
