Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

I, for one, don't particularly love Tapia. I would much prefer McMahon or even Wall over Tapia.

The package I really want from the Rockies is probably Rodgers/McMahon/Wall/intriguing arm.

Tapia has no power, but hits for average and has speed. Good leadoff type guy

  • Guys...I feel like losing Quintana would hurt the most. What is everyone's thoughts on keeping him? Maybe he can be the Ace of the next good Sox team.

Yeah, I would be more intrigued if he could play center. Sounds like most think he ends up in right.

Fangraphs review of Rockies' prospects. They are pretty down on McMahon.

If that arm is Almonte, sign me up!

Rodgers, Tapia, Freeland, and Almonte for Q?

Yikes.

I think Houston will fold this week sometime. Martes, Tucker, Musgrove and one more I'd say.

In a trade with Houston I would need: Tucker, F. Perez, Martes and Whitely to start.

In a trade with Colorado I would need: Rodgers, Pint and Tyler.

Would people here rather have Pint or Hoffman as a second piece behind Rodgers?

Also need to find a young catcher. Who's this Stubbs I'm hearing about? Is he all glove?

Personally, Pint just to get the deal done. He's super talented himself, just further away and without a TJS to boot. Rockies are clearly trying to win now. We may run into a similar wall like the Musgrove from the Astros ask. I think in any of these deals, the more MLB ready guys you try to take from teams trying to win now, ultimately the less you'll get back in terms of quality or quantity on the back end of these deals. They're also less likely to pull the trigger too. Feels that way to me, anyway.

Edit: + we need Pint and Beer. Badddd

Quintana & Jennings for Marte, Tucker, Reed, & Stubbs.

We can take Pint anyways, with some of the other close arms we now have. I don't feel like having someone who might be a force in 4-5 years is necessarily a bad thing.

Astros number 30 prospect. Not all glove, 50 hit tool with no power. High defensive marks. Severino from Washington is more elite all glove type. I'd target em both... Robertson and Q.

Personally, Pint.

With the amount of starting prospects on the team, I'd go for the one with the higher ceiling and longer ETA.

We do know that the Sox loved Hoffman going into the 2014 Draft, so they may still see something they like.

Nice info thanks man! I'm hoping STL comes for Nate Jones and we can nab Kelly from them in a deal.

Outside of Melkiy I don't see Hahn trading for prospects with a projection later than 2018,especially not for Quintana who he has thru 2020. Both trades to date have early projectables outside of basabe and Diaz. The pressure is on the buyers who want to win now but there is subtle pressure on Hahn to win soon and a 2020 projectables like pint Rodgers etc won't guarantee Rick a job after three losing years

Healthy track record and a stunning resemblance to Seth McFarland. Win-win.

Stubbs is ranked #10 in Baseball America's rankings for the Astros.

Is that updated or an old list? I saw him listed as 30 on mlb.com.

Most likely updated. Baseball America have been updating their lists for the last month I believe.

Yeah, but you start out to run out of teams that are willing and able to give up that kind of bounty. At some point, you may have to sacrifice for guys with a little later ETA in order to get the kind of impact that you're looking for.

Besides, I do like the diversity of different ETAs as well. Not everyone needs to be ready in the next year or two.

The Baseball America list is for 2017, I don't believe MLB.com has really updated their list yet.
