Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Dane Dunning

Thanks to some heady pre-writing done by our staff, we already have an article up with details on Giolito, Lopez and Dunning.

Here it is - dig in!

Seriously, would a return like this be possible 10 years ago, without popularizing advanced stats?

Nice write up and thanks. I dont pay much attention to prospects anymore and reading this helps understand whats upcoming these couple of seasons. I remember reading Robin Ventura liked Giolito outta the draft that year.

As always, great job and thank you all for your insight's.

Thanks for the write-up, fellas.

Here's some MLB video of Lopez from last season.

Thank you. Good story. Thanks again.

Sounds like Coop has some talent to work with, but some work to do on these guys. Giolito had the Tommy John surgery. Lopez was had for only $17,000. All three are rated very high. So hopefully the ratings will be correct.

Today's WhiteSox acquisitions: Dunning will likely start in A ball. Giolito, Lopez both likely in AAA Charlotte rotation, Hahn said -- Daryl Van Schouwen

I like the look of giolito. Good smooth mechanic although he over strides on occasion and hits on his heel too much which can act as a brake for the body.

Overall he should be really smooth as he continues to learn his mechanics

White Sox were offered Giolito, Robles, Lopez and Dunning for Sale, turned it down.

Obviously, Hahn was targeting the combination of Moncada/Kopech/Basabe as more than worth the tradeoff for Robles. He clearly wasn't going to get Moncada+ for Quintana or Eaton.

Rizzo and Hahn both risking their careers on Adam Eaton...who was the best player that Hahn traded for, as well. It's an even bigger risk because Eaton will have to play CF for at least two years in Washington with Harper in RF.

As someone said, if not for an unknown 915th overall, 30th round pick in Hector Santiago...he, Sale and waiver claim Q might end up saving the franchise. Ironic, because Lopez was signed for $17,000 himself out of the Dominican.

Rotation is currently Q (for now), Rodon, Gonzalez, Shields and Fulmer/Beck/???.

In addition to those guys, you've now got 4-6 guys with reportedly top of the rotation stuff in Giolito/Lopez with Kopech/Burdi/Hansen/Adams the next step down, at Winston-Salem or Birmingham depending on whether they're starting (all three SHOULD be). You've also got Kopech/Lopez/Burdi/Hansen on the "upswing," and Giolito/Adams with some questions about their velocity.

You've got another set of "interesting" arms in Stephens, Danish, Guerrero that look more like pen pieces right now...and of course, Diaz and finally Dunning, who has great control and is expected to move quite quickly up the ladder as an advanced college pitcher.

I spy an Urlacher poster on the wall in his house.

That's his host family's house. But he seems like a real smart kid. Loved his quote at the very end of the video too.

Giolito will talk to anyone, but it seems in a good way so far.

Dear lord, if baseball doesn't work out, he has a nice career ahead of him as a PBS host explaining things in the calmest possible tone.

He certainly seems old for his age. A better term would probably be "dork"

Was hoping Dunning would have been invited to Soxfest. I feel like he's the forgotten piece in the Eaton deal, yet he was still a 1st RD pick last year.

Slint 1:36 Your thoughts on Giolito's continued struggles? I know you were (are) a big fan of him Keith Law

1:37 Still am. White Sox continue to try to unravel the delivery changes the Nats made. I don't know about yesterday but I know two starts ago his velo was mid-90s again. Just be patient.

Giolito is only 23 and pitchers with large bodies like his often do take longer to develop

At the start oi the rebuild we have plenty of time to be patient in our prospects development

I saw someone recently say they thought there was a good chance Dane Dunning might be the jewel of the Adam Eaton trade, rather than Lucas Giolito. Is this opinion putting too much emphasis on early season results, while ignoring age for level?

That's not crazy - Dunning was a legit first round talent last spring.
