March 10, 20179 yr I love Modelo, but absolutely hate Bud Light. The loss of revenue really makes this suck though.
March 10, 20179 yr QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 03:53 PM) This won't be the only new Beer the Sox will be getting. This year? Yes it will haha
March 11, 20179 yr I was hoping to see a tap list for beers of the midwest. They had some decent stuff last year. Oh well, I'm assuming I'll at least be able to get an Anti-Hero.

Hopefully they still have coors in the corner.

I don't understand how anyone likes any mass scale commercial American beer. It all tasted like piss to me when I drank. Craft beers, German beers, Belgian beers, Japanese beers, Spanish beers, hell - even Mexican beers all trump piss like Bud or Coors or Miller. Back in my hay day thou, the bees knees was a pack of smokes and a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue. Edit: Don't get me wrong, when I was drinking and all that was available was ( anything ) I'd drink it... even if it was a bunch of flat day old warm bud light in dozens of half drank red plastic party cups. March 11, 20179 yr Ditched Miller lite, In with Modelo and Budweiser. Also expanded their craft beer selection by quite a bit. I'm a big fan of this move. I don't see anywhere in the article indicating that Budweiser will be served at the park or involved with sponsorship. "The Sox team begin the 2017 season without a single official domestic beer partner". Something else to consider is that Miller products (Lite, Leinenkugel, Redd's, Smith & Forge, Henry's, etc.) were huge advertisers on Sox television and radio broadcasts. Hopefully WGN-TV and WLS Radio will find replacements. So far this season I have not heard any beverage advertisers on WLS spring training radio broadcasts. Good deal! Hopefully some Goose Island, too. Goose Island is part of Budweiser. I don't think Goose Island will be served at the park unless other Bud products come on board. Perhaps the Sox could hand out a Modelo beer vendor bobblehead to fans over 21 entering the park in the 2017 season, LOL! .

But yea hopefully they can somehow replace that revenue leaving from Miller somehow. Edited March 11, 20179 yr by TheTruth05
March 11, 20179 yr This is another low point in the JR ownership. The team can't get a major beer sponsor on their TV + Radio broadcasts. Some people have posted that the White Sox will receive a new TV deal in 2 years. I really wonder how much the team will get from that deal. The next 2 seasons are going to be brutal and I have to wonder if the team is going to get any big offers from any TV station.

The inability to re-up with Miller is a downstream impact of the continuing bottom-of-the-barrel attendance and TV ratings. The bottom-of-the-barrel attendance and TV ratings are the downstream impacts of the continuing losing by the teams brought to the fan base by Team Reinsdorf, Williams, & Hahn, with over a decade's worth of futility currently underway. Simple cases of cause and effect. The franchise in many ways has bottomed out, and now all that's left for Jerry, Kenny, & Rick to do in the waning years of the Reinsdorf ownership is to go through this rebuild business, and hope to dig the team out of the hole they dug for it. Do so in a way that they might still be able to enjoy whatever success emerges at the end of the rebuild, before it's finally "Bye! Bye!" to all three sometime in the near future once a new owner is in place. Edited March 11, 20179 yr by Thad Bosley
March 11, 20179 yr Ugh, Miller products (except for Coors ) are so bad and the same with Buttwiper, just nasty. Definitely like the addition of Modelo, that's just good stuff! A cold Modelo on a warm day is a beautiful thing.

Exactly , team is rolling dice on rebuild that they won't spend money on to build around. This team won't have a 1-2 punch close to sale/quintana for decades, or a cf like Adam Eaton for years. They blew a huge chance I. 2016 to build around the core because they're too damn cheap. A Dexter Fowler, catcher, and some depth could of made the 23-10 run go on all season. The embassment of the crap catchers, relying on Austin Jackson to play 162 games, trading for shields, relying on Danks to start, Avi, albers, Jerry fu&!ing sands starting DH, bullpen injuries, and Robin Ventura experiment that should of ended in 2012 made 2016 the most embarrassing season I've ever witnessed to be a Sox fan. Kw, Hahn and buddy bell should of been fired with Ventura. This team is gonna have to be stacked and winning for YEARS to get any type of fan base back.
March 11, 20179 yr Modelos alone makes this one of the best moves the sox have made other than rebuilding.

No local team is doing. I actually think this is a smart move. It's only a 3 year deal, so hopefully they are in a spot where sponsors want to join in by 2020, the first year of the new tv deal.
