How is Benetti good at his job? I don't consider the same corny jokes over and over again and Sox math to make him "good".

 

 

He's a professional broadcaster that is well versed in multiple sports and went to school for his craft. He is inherently more qualified than the current version of Hawk. Now if Hawk were the analyst, that'd be different. I grew up with Hawk like everyone else did. He takes over broadcasts though and minimizes Steve Stone. The Hawk schtick has run its course as far as the broadcast is concerned. The home games sound like a modern baseball broadcast. The road games are two guys doing separate games because of their dislike for working with the other on most nights.

What's funny is analytics takes a decent sample size to really be accurate. I don't know how WAR and the like come into play on a daily basis. Hawk actually did use some advanced stats last year, and Stone throws them in occassionally too.

 

 

What I don't understand is how you can like Steve Stone if modern baseball analysis and analytics are so important. He mentions wins for pitchers every day.

Stone is cocky, but at least he knows his s*** for the most part. He's great at the mini games between the pitcher and batter. Benetti is laughably ignorant about some basic baseball stuff but he'll get better with time.

 

Hawk is just dead to me, has been for about 5 years, and I used to love him.

Hawk should have left years ago.

A small part of my childhood will be gone. He's declined over the years, but I'll still miss ya big guy.

My thoughts exactly. Hawk, for me, IS White Sox baseball. The day he's no longer shouting hawkisms will be a sad one for me.

If you prefer Bennetti-Bot to Hawk l honestly feel sorry for you. Same goes for those weenies on the north side.

Man I really hope those 3 are in the rotation together at some point but in the best case scenario. Quintana and then 2 of Shields, Gonzalez, Holland being moved. Hell, moving all 3 of those guys and having to call up Volstad would even be a good scenario lol

AJ maybe? Honestly, the chances of them replacing Benetti with someone more like Benetti is greater than him being replaced with someone like Hawk it would seem.
