September 30, 20178 yr QUOTE (Real @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 10:34 PM) So which players should I be researching that fall in the top 5 picks? And which are gonna likely fall to the sox? From the 2018 MLB Draft thread in the Future Sox Board: QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 08:58 PM) The closer this season gets to its conclusion, the more contented I am with our position in this draft class. Hahn and Co. have been singing the "deep draft, no clear number 1" tune for sometime... and that mantra is beginning to finally sink in for me. Say that hypothetically we're selecting in the 4th slot and the first 3 picks go down like this: 1.) Singer 2.) Madrigal 3.) Turang I'd then be stoked for them to pick up Hankins, Kelenic, Kowar, Rocker, and even Beer if his 2018 performance puts him back in the top mix. An interesting guy to watch will be Tristan Beck. I'm in no way suggestion him as an option for our top pick but it'll be fun to follow him. Just gotta put the faith in Hostetler that they'll get the PBA with our #1 selection... even if it isn't ending up being the 1:1 slot. If one of those "designated" top 3 are replaced with another player I've listed - then, well... you do the math. All in all - it's too early to tell.

September 30, 20178 yr I'm just glad there looks to be no "can't miss/consesus" #1 pick in this upcoming in this next year's draft. F*** the tigers for their pitiful play and historically bad month. I'm just glad they're a long time away from being close to good again.
September 30, 20178 yr To dumb it down, Phillies HAVE to win their next two games (and the Sox to lose the next two obviously) to leapfrog them for 3rd. As I said a while back, I think we're going to be set at #4. Only the Reds I can see screwing that up if they continue to suck.

I may be a part of the "confused idiot bunch" - but we're not that dumb!
September 30, 20178 yr QUOTE (thedoctor @ Sep 30, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) can Covey start the last two games? He's actually pitched reasonably well recently. I was thinking another go for Pelfrey - used less than 3 innings yesterday, and it would be a shame to end his season with such a confidence-breaking start. He did throw 85 innings in those 2 2/3 innings, so maybe wait til Sunday.
September 30, 20178 yr Considering we're up against Kubler today - I'm hoping for a 3 - 1 loss. Fulmer goes 8IP with 0 ER 1 R. Bullpen gives up 2 runs in the 9th. Kubler goes CG with 1ER, a solo Moncada shot. L Not likely all around but I'm just saying today's loss probability is high. Then we've got Volestad to close out 2017... so we're looking good IMO.
September 30, 20178 yr Indians may be going for WS HFA over the Dodgers tomorrow too. Hopefully the Rockies beat LA today.
September 30, 20178 yr QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 06:21 PM) He's had 506 minor league at bats while not working much on refining his swing. It's way to early to make speculations about his projection at the MLB level. The dudes a prospect - and a good one at that. Let's just all agree to sit on the fence with him and keep an eye on how he does in 2018 on both sides of the ball. I am not proclaiming him dead, but very clearly not in the same tier as Eloy, Kopech, Hansen, and Robert.
September 30, 20178 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 30, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) Indians may be going for WS HFA over the Dodgers tomorrow too. Hopefully the Rockies beat LA today. Sadly, the Dodgers are starting Kershaw tonight and not tomorrow.
September 30, 20178 yr Looks like the Sox are going to need to lose these last 2 to hold on to the #4 pick. The Reds look like they have mailed it in.
September 30, 20178 yr Tigers fans are mad now. Giants just blew another save with 2 strikes and 2 outs.

September 30, 20178 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 30, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) Lets go Phillies! We're the biggest Phanatic's their are in the world right now! Go Phanatic's, Go! Go Scalpers, Go! ( squared )
October 1, 20178 yr It would something if the Phillies dropped to 5th tomorrow after being 1st most of the season. They're up 2-0

October 1, 20178 yr Wow.. Detroit actually won tonight. I repeat... The Detroit Tigers actually won tonight. Giants fans must be ecstatic. Phillies and Mets tied at 4. Bottom 8th.
October 1, 20178 yr Sox win again. The Sox are down to 5th now. Eliminated from 3rd. 4th is very unlikely. Oh well...
