I'm not at all ready to connect those dots.

He was consisntely 97 the last month in the minors and now he's 93-95 in the majors. They even said on the broadcast the focus tonight was on command.

  • How is this Cooper's fault? The weather, the velocity drop and missed locations clearly make this KW's fault. My gawd Sox fans how can you not see this?

  • Assuming the forecast holds, the Sox would be idiots to even send him out to start. But that's what I said last time against Boston and they still did it.

  • Kopech vs. Otani would be an interesting match up.

Cooper was trying to let him learn a lesson by getting his brains beaten in before going out there...seems like this is what Steve Stone was suggesting was going to be a rough adjustment period going throw thrower to pitcher.

At least the loss is helping our draft positioning...

This game's a stinker but to me it's still clear as day how great Kopech is going to be.

Kopech is looking like a bust right ow.

fucking rain.

Rofl. This thread is great. Never change game threads. Never change.

His MLB 4 seam fastball average coming into his last start was 95.9, which is a big difference from what we're seeing tonight so far.

Yes the sky is falling.

Hindsight is 20/20, but clear in retrospect that the mixture of his stuff being off and the delay was not going to go well. Had to give it a shot, though.

Not too often you go from a 0.82 ERA (1/11 IP) to a 5.02 ERA (assuming the relief corps lets another run in, 8/14.3) in the span of one start.

I'm not letting tonight bother me at all. Time for a beer!

Why would you take away his electric stuff that will put asses in the seats and people wanting to watch?

And Covey allows the inherited runner to score, as predicted...like clockwork.

Why would he focus on command by throwing slower when his command was fine throwing harder in the minors his last 7 starts ?

Tiger lineup is not that scary.

I agree but the announcers stated that in the first inning

I doubt anyone told them hey guys Kopech will be throwing slower tonight to work on command. They guess like we all do.

What happened!!!??? Trade him trade everyone. That would never happen to Sale

Cooper has one more year to get things turned around and going in the right direction...you would hope they would make a change with both him and Renteria if we don't at least end up in the 73-77 win zone next year.

Ah, forget it, Cooper has a lifetime contract, it's like being a fan of Iowa football and thinking there will ever be pressure to replace Kirk Ferentz or at least have a 21st century offensive approach.  Amazing how coaches can live forever off past successes (see KW as well).

Because MLB hitters are better than minor league hitters and the precision of the command needs to be better.

Rain delay soon. Fun.

or now

Cooper keeps his pitchers healthy. That is job number 1. Besides with the talent he's had lately would you really expect anything different.

I can’t believe the ultimate plan is  to have this guy sit at 93-95 when he’s got what he’s got. It has to be an issue where he isn’t used to still pitching or making as many starts. Coopers biggest success story was Matt Thornton who he turned around in one bullpen session. He didn’t have him throw 93-94. When Father Time made his velocity disappear, he became meat.

Any chance this get postponed
