Is his OPS over 1.000 now?

It's exactly 1.000 according to BR

Hopefully stays healthy in '19, what an OF duo him and Eloy will be

I think you mean what an OF trio he, Eloy, and Bryce will be

Let’s just hope he stays 100% healthy, puts up an 800ish ops in AA and is good enough to receive consideration for Charlotte or Chicago at the end of 2019.  That would be a huge boost to the rebuild momentum.

But but this rebuild has been a failure... let’s go back to singing that tune.

I’m really glad he is showing up and finally healthy but, the dude is gonna be in A+ again next year, let’s chill with the “actually the rebuild has been perfect!”

I hope he can stay on the field and this is a sign of things to come.

Adam Engel had a. 1.165 OPS in the AFL. A star was born.

I think the big takeaway from this not to overreact to rough patches or even seasons with high end prospects.  Too many people here panicked on Robert because he couldn’t stay healthy and didn’t show much power.  We still don’t know for certain what he is, but surely this AFL reinforces what we know he’s capable of.  The tools are beyond elite and we’re actually seeing them put to use for the first time.  It’s the same reason people shouldn’t write-off guys like Hansen & Sheets after disappointing 2018 seasons.

I was following Robert's stats closely this year and he was okay - no red flags or signs of alarm to think he was going to be far off track, but certainly not showing off elite prospect talent either. His momentum kept getting stalled by injuries, and it was frustrating. I hope he has better luck going forward.

Yeah, their situations are the same.

Adam Engel's stats in 2017-2018 according to baseballreference.com:

730 At bats

.207 batting average

246 strike-outs

12 HR

Was Engel "ready" for major league baseball or was he brought up to try to adjust to major league pitching on the fly  to see how that worked out?

Why wouldn't Robert be given the same chance ?   If he continues to play well in Spring Training, no reason he should not replace Engel on the 25 man roster. His speed on the bases along with that of Tim Anderson and Moncada would be formidable.  Engel is  DFA material.

Or did they believe he was never going to hit, so they just brought him up because with his defense they were hoping he may do something. Its not like they brought him up onto a championship caliber team.

Sometimes they have learned all they can in the minors and the team knows they won't make it.

Because Robert is a legit prospect and shouldn’t be rushed?

Engel is not a prospect.  His influence on the success of the rebuild is negligible.

True to form.  Don't ever change. #moregarbagedickallensays

Rushed ?

Talent evaluation is the key more than the timing of a call-up . If a player has the talent they will make it whether they are 21, 22 or 26.

Devers, Benintendi,,,so many young guys  make it without complaints about being rushed.

You really can’t discuss baseball because you have no clue, so you act like the internet police and grade posts. Grade your own. You shouldn’t be impressed.

you want to say this rebuild is going swimmingly because Luis Robert had a good week in November. Go ahead,

You legit need to stop projecting whatever other disappointments you have onto this board.  Your "be disappointed in preparation to be more disappointed" attitude has taken a huge toll on the quality of your posts and your high post count has given you an outsized influence on the morale of this board.

Do you ever come to Soxtalk to actually discuss baseball or is it to project your personal issues on others?
