Good. No real reason for him to get consistent ABs. He was a black hole post-April

Yeah -- As good of a guy Matt Davidson was to cheer for, there wasn't anything happening here. Unfortunate, but TY for the memories of last year.

this is a move that makes me think they're going to be active bringing in veterans the next few weeks.

100% agree, assuming Avi is non-tendered.

Hmmm...definitely a little surprised by this but Davidson kind of sucks so not a huge loss.

My Dad is going to be destroyed.  He thought Davidson was the 2nd coming of Mike Schmidt or something.

I LOVE this. He was a bum against everyone except the Royals.

Keep trimming the fat off this team. Hopefully Avi is next.

Agreed.

I think it comes down to roster spots.  I really feel like we’re going a bunch of additions in free agency.

I'm really happy that Davidson had two years in the big leagues. Would have been brutal for him to have lost it all the year he thought he was going to hit.

Unfortunately he wasn't quite good enough, but he should definitely work on his pitching and try to be some weird player for the tampa rays.

Considering his price tag, It is actually pretty shocking to me. But he is challenged position wise, contact wise, and his power was zapped a bit last year. He hit more homers in KC than Chicago. Just don't see much upside there.

He does have a nice head of hair.

I think this is likely true, but also I did not expect sox to have another year of so many power-only, limited defensive players. Palka is gonna be who they go with, I didn't see nicky or matt d with spots.

Also, the idea that we have to have two players to make a good DH grosses me out.

I thought it was reported Avi and Sox agreed 2.1 MIL

Someone on twitter retweeted a tweet from 2016.  It caught me for a sec until I double checked.

I am pretty surprised by this TBH.  He is a back up in an area we don't have a lot of depth in, and isn't very expensive at all.  Oh well, the good news is that this isn't a big loss.

Matt, Mr. Dayton Moore is on line 1.

I could see Arizona bringing him back to play some 1st base if they trade Goldy.

It appears they are ready to pay attention to defense.  Maybe they are trying to start the winning part of this thing.
