November 30, 20187 yr It is also worth noting that the White Sox now have 3 open roster spots on the 40 man roster.

Then I'd buy my "White Sox 2019 Third Place Champs" shirt and call it a day. I do think there are some veterans that can actually be just as important for development and also talent accumulation, but part of that is just I don't see sox using extra 25 man roster spots to rule 5 or waiver pickups as that helpful anymore. Maybe we'll find we can find position player equivelants to kahnle/swarzak.
November 30, 20187 yr Sad day to just give up on Avi when we currently have no decent options for rf. I worship Avi so I'm glum. In some respects I hope a Central team signs him or the Cubs sign him since we allegedly are tanking one more season and maybe Avi will gain revenge on the Sox for just releasing him. To be fair, I am no medical expert, have no medical records and have no idea what the medical staff thinks of Avi. Perhaps they think his body is really broken and his contributions will be horrific the rest of his career. If that's the case, fine. Good luck to Avi and better luck to the Sox who apparently are deciding Avi and Davidson aren't nearly good enough to play for the Sox. If that's the case, WOW me, management and bring me some stars as soon as you can! Go Sox! Good luck Avi. Edited November 30, 20187 yr by greg775

We need a god damn whale and then several B guys on short-term deals. There is a market inefficiency right now with non-star, over 30 free agents. We should take advantage of that, but only if we plan (hope) to sign Harper or Machado.

Isn't that what the Twins tried to do last year?
November 30, 20187 yr Even though it doesn't look good today, when it's all said and done I firmly believe avi garcia will go down as the best white sox right fielder ever. I really believe so.

Or they think bringing in numerous veterans for shorter deals is more effective than giving Manny/Bryce the largest deals ever?

That said, even I can see the logic in giving him this last year to see if he gets hot and is tradeable, to salvage SOMETHING from the frustrating dumpster fire that was his time here. To me, this means that the Sox aren’t terribly confident about the health of his knee, or that they have plans for that 8 million bucks. Or better yet, a plan for that right field spot
