People in Springfield and Decatur are close enough to make that trip. It is only an 60-90 minutes from there to St. Louis. Peoria is 2 hrs away so if someone really wanted to go to a Cardinals game they could pull it off....It is no different than traveling to a Sox game from where I live in Rush Hour lol. They probably make up the difference with the rest of IL. Anywhere south of I-80  and west of I-55 and you start getting into Cardinals country. They also draw in Iowa as well.

My favorite semi-obscure players to remember from the mid-late 90s include Norberto Martin and Chris Snopek. I still have vivid memories of Gene Honda calling those guys as they walked up to the plate.

Not really relevant. Sox have some big active online communities outside of Reddit. Cubs on the other had never had much of a online community pre-social media days despite their large fanbase. NSBB was the largest forum and that could be quite the ghost town even when the Cubs were good.

Its not required to get a policy in MLB, but the Sox would 100% would have an insurance policy on Machado.

I have no idea, but I would imagine there isn't necessarily a standard that has to be made on how the policy is set up.  Insurance companies are willing to customize their policies if the price is right.  I ADD'd out and didn't read the whole thing, but here's a decent article on insurance on Fangraphs.

Reinsdorf owns the Stadium twitter acct..and they were the source that broke the Yonder acquisition .  It's weird to me they'd put it out there like that (re: signing both) but then again it's seeking clicks or whatever, at its core.
