Opt outs are in the players favor, so is front loading the contract. It would have to be up to the player/agent to decide which is more valuable. Because a situation with 40 AAV on the first couple years doesn't make any sense with an opt out in years 3-4 or 5.

A month from now when he's still out a job, that $40m sitting in front of him looks better and better. Im also on the record of saying they need to put pressure on him by reducing his offer everyday.

Once again, the team involved in this negotiation is the Chicago Whitesox, they are NOT New York Yankees or the Cubs to be in a position to do this. They have no bargaining chips here other than to pay the man. The team has been losing for a decade straight, have not signed a big named free agent in even longer than that and are in no way shape or form in position to do anything like this. It’s the price you pay for being irrelevant for as long as they have.

I think yesterday was pure speculation that a signing be made in the next few days because of the obvious spring training beginning

February 14, 20197 yr I did some digging: I googled the term "Luna de Miel Deportiva " and it turns out that the guy he tweeted it at is involved with promoting this thing: https://listindiario.com/entretenimiento/2019/02/12/553220/franklin-mirabal-ahora-promueve-la-luna-de-miel-deportiva My conclusion: The guy tagged in the tweet is a Yankees fan and this was just a joke. ? Maybe the Yankees offered 240, Machado said no, Yankees moved on and now the Sox offer is close or less and Machado is either trying to get that offer back from Ny or trying to avoid signing for less. Or Heyman is lying to push the Yankee agenda and making it seem like they had a good offer. Edited February 14, 20197 yr by Orlando
