Machado signs with Padres 10/300

Featured Replies

Heyman just tweeted Padres said to have put in serious bids on both Harper and machado and likely bid 8/250 for machado, Sox should definitely beat that especially with the California tax.

deferrals = not serious

And if hectors 8 for 250 offer is true we have 0 to worry about in my opinion

Im not scared of that Padres offer. I am worried though because it says they have offered more to Harper. So if Philly nabs Harper, does SD then substantially raise their Machado offer? That’s what worries me

For it being a Sunday night the national reporters have been unusually active tonight, I can’t see this thing lasting much longer.

I don’t want the Sox in the other end pushing the tax issue thinking they are clever. Beat the effing offer and end it.

i sure wish it was the Sox we were hearing about being aggressive. Sox have a chance to prove they are operating differently, but until they execute I believe they are arrogant about how clever they are.

This isn’t doing much for me rn.

Now numbers are coming out again lol. Guess it's ok if its Lozano leaking it. Guy is trash.

Looks like machado to Sox is done tomorrow and Padres save face claiming they offered nearly the same.

Sox need to wrap this up ASAP. The longer this drags on the more room for something to go wrong.

Has there ever been a Sunday night this active in MLB free agency? This along with position players reporting and the date that JD Martínez signed being kind of a soft deadline makes me believe this is over by Tuesday.

they operate best in silent mode, wrap up both tomorrow and prove the Boston fake twitter guys to be true lol

RT @barstoolWSD: My thoughts are the Sox operate best when they’re in stealth mode and they have zero excuse to not at the very least be high bidder at this point, unless SD offers some exorbitant amount. Sox are in a great spot and I’m as confident now as I was a month ago. I think they get him

As far as national writers go, the offer that is out there from the Sox is that lowball offer of 7/175.

I can't imagine the PR damage Manny signing with SD would cause.

Lozano: Padres are serious! You better cave to our (fill in the blank)

hahn: cmon lets get this done tonight it’s been months dude

If Machado signs for 8/250, the Sox were never serious to begin with.

Not putting too much stock in what Heyman is saying though. He is all over the place today.

8 Years $250 million in SD is equal to say 8 years $230 million from us.

If we are willing to go $260 million over 8 years he's ours to have, assuming Harper ends up in Philly.

Just hope JR isn't getting all cute here and trying to put in deferrals  on that deal.

Not this offseason, definitely seems like both these guys are coming to a conclusion.

Fixed

I would love for one of them to sign tonight.

Option B is off the table with Moose signing a one year $10m w/ Brew Crew.

Manny or bust now.

Didn't that Kevin Acee dude say that the Padres were out and Manny is going to the Sox just two days ago?

oh no

That’s a good thing..... in my opinion moose didn’t fit what we are doing anyways, go big or go home, there is no award for finishing in second...
