Hawk being a fan of the team is what I miss the most. For Stoney and Benetti, it's a paycheck. Hawk was relatable because he suffered through the same shit we did as fans and you could hear it in his

The Sox sucked for most of Hawk's broadcasting tenure. The difference is that Hawk got really cranky about 10 years ago, especially with regard to the umps. Other times, he'd just sulk and not say any

Rondon's fan club has logged on.

I like the lineup. Jay-less until when?

It’s sunny there, but BP was cancelled because the grounds crew is removing snow off the outfield.

one of those days where if you're not in the sun you're gonna be freezing your ass off I take it.  meanwhile another sunny mid 60s day here in Santa Monica, er, Seattle.

When he is healthy

Should be eligible opening day, though I dont actually know if he will be ready then. Doubt it. Either way this lineup looks a lot better with him in it.

If he can come close to his 2017 numbers with the Cubs, he'd be a more than acceptable lead off man for this club. Him actually doing that is a different story.

Pushing Leury to a sub role is also beneficial.

Yeah. Of course we want to see that ops higher but even his .330 OBP from last year batting in front of Moncada and Abreu right now would be great. Jay's always gotten on base at a decent clip (Far better than of our other options) so I dont expect that to change when he gets back but we shall see

Pushing Leury to RF is more beneficial than as a sub (or c/rf, whatever), competency will help our outfield.

He should be pushing Palka to a sub role or AAA.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I wish Engel was playing and Leury in right so we don't have to watch Palka.

I just think he should be platooned vs. lefties and be spelled more in late innings.

Well that's #fakenews

That is an ugly ass lineup

I hate moving around Moncada around especially to leadoff. Jay really needs to come back.

Sox facing the second of two ALC teams who are financially contacting. The Tribe managed to play two under last year outside of their division. Temps in the 30's are forecast. Lindor is visiting Green Bay to have his two injuries checked on. Carlos Santana is hot at the plate.

Josh's fault

Not a huge fan of moving Moncada up to leadoff after he's had great success to start the year being more aggressive earlier in the count.  If he was a 10 year vet sure, but he's not.  Hopefully he doesn't alter his approach too much and get out of whack.

Curious to see if Rondon can catch some lighting in a bottle.

As do I, he needs to stay at the 2 hole.  Palka batting 2 is horrible.

We have a manager that doesn't seem to have any strengths.  He's not good in the locker room, he's not good with the pitching staff and he's not good with lineup construction or in game adjustments.  He's just a guy, in a long, long string on the South Side outside the few years Ozzie was engaged and around.

Probably just trying to get him some protection and better pitch selection to get him going, but yeah... I don’t like seeing him that high.

You think Rick Renteria isn't good in the locker room? That's literally the only thing I think Rick is good at. He's the only latin/spanish speaking manager in baseball on a team full of Hispanics. Rick is a players coach.

As for this angst about Yoan hitting first instead of second - it's pointless. Yoan will see just as many fastballs leading off as he will hitting second, and even if he attacks earlier in the count this year he'll always be a naturally patient hitter. He's attacking earlier in the count this year because he was TOO patient last year and MLB pitchers attacked him with the first pitch, but by years end he'll be top 50 in pitches/pa because that's who he naturally is. Walking is one of yoan's strengths - he's not going to suddenly become one of the most aggressive hitters in baseball. If Yoan has turned a corner this year, and has begun to figure it out, it won't matter if he hits first or second.
