Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

Except Allard would be our 3rd/4th starter right now...Medieros is buried behind 5-7 pitchers on the depth chart, still.

Why does a team’s depth chart have anything to do with a prospect’s intrinsic value?

  • my only philosophy on baseball (as a young person) is that old players like colome are useless (as are saves, since I am a statnik) and should be force retired. If that's not possible, flipping them i

  • I'd say put a silly value on him and if teams dont meet it just keep him.

Yah, that 60 at bat sample size really tells us all we need to know there.

I don‘t see Allard being better than Cease, Lopez and even Nova. Saying that he would be the third best pitcher is an incredible stretch.

Sure thing Bob.

Allard isn't what he once was but a 21 year old LHSP holding his own in the International League (w/ superjuiced ball) is still pretty impressive.

Colome staying put and Abreu netting a to 100 prospect is peak Nightengale.

Tell Kenny thanks for the info I guess the offers aren't good enough

Definitely gotta sell high here.

No, not really

Yeah, really.

At the time of the respective trades, Soria > Martin and Allard > Kodi

I have a feeling they're going to hold everybody.

Playing the opposite end, at least we got a lottery ticket in Kodi for Soria before he ultimately regressed, although his peripherals were solid all year.... I'd still do that deal again, even if Kodi isn't really that good.  Soria did us really no benefit in keeping him and letting him go in FA.

That’s fine. They don’t need to trade Colome for junk.

Soria < Martin  Allard = Medieros

That would be an epic failure.

Lol at Allard being equivalent to Medeiros.

I am OK with the Sox holding onto Colome. That just means the offers weren’t there. Let’s see how the day shakes out before casting judgement.

Trading people for the the sake of trading makes no sense. None of our expiring contracts are worth anything and trading Colome and Leury isn’t wise unless the return is worth it.

Kenny's mouthpiece has been sent out with marching orders.  No reason to say we are keeping him publicly unless you want better offers.

If the offers aren't there (or there are no offers) then not really.

The only ones I would really take "best offer" for would be the guys who are free agents in a couple of months. But again, a team would have to be interested.

I agree actually. I was making that argument yesterday. If the offers aren't worth it, tell the other teams to go pound sand.

There are plenty of guys that should be moved for whatever you can get, even if you have to eat their full salaries:

Abreu

Nova

Jay

Castillo

Yolmer

Colome and Leury are the only guys in which the return should be scrutinized.

Obviously, Colome wouldn't have pitched last night had the Sox had an offer or two they really liked.
