  • I come to just the Gio game thread and I see everyone is crying again for some reason

Pull him now Ricky.

Outstanding outing again by Gio...we have our ace!!!

He’s so damn good now you’re actually disappointed when he allows a hit

Stud.

Do we ever, ever get Merrifield out.  JFC

What's crazy is that he did this without his good heater today.

Good hitter + tiring pitcher often ends this way

Ricky makes the normal guy decision to bring in Bummer...I'm proud of him for not out thinking himself.

Finally a good decision by RR. Let gio face the bottom of the order, and if he gives up a hit, you have Bummer in to face a lefty.

I'd honestly leave Bummer in the 9th too. Or at least for a hitter or two if you want Colome to still get the save.

Warning track?

Yes

Another thing to think about is having good starters makes Ricky’s job easy.  Having Nova, Banuelos, Lopez & Santana consistently going 4-5 innings forces Ricky to use the whole pen at sub-optimal times.  No way around it.

It's sad that Covey is the only other starter who can really go 6 innings in limited damage at this point.

He pitches with nice an easy control of the situation.  Looks calm and in charge.

Put Colome in and let him keep boosting his trade value before we start playing good teams.

Yes that's true but reinforcements are coming next year.  Gio, Kopech & Cease will be mucho fun to watch.

He's nearly reaching Chris Sale like dominance with us. It's incredible.

Actually, he’s already there this season.

So is Giolito starting the Allstar Game for the AL?

Kopech and Cease are still going to have their growing pains. It really sucks Kopech got injured. This is why I'm hoping Cease gets his feet wet, pitches well (and struggles which he will) and by next season he'll be on a good path.

Nearly. Sale was doing it far longer and had more double digit K's per outing. But he's very close.

And he hasn't cut up any uniforms.

Agreed.  Look at Giolito.  Look at Moncada.  Look at Eloy.  These guys all seem to struggle coming up and once they adjust, they are studs.
