Yankees vs White Sox Father's Day Gamethread

Enough is enough...time to bring up better pitching or trade for it. Wrap this rebuild up. All the good vibes of crawling back to .500 gets flushed down the toilet when we have to roll out bums like Despaigne.  THE TIME IS NOW.

I think this is a first for Renteria:  the 3 worst hitters in the lineup are batting 7-8-9.  Nary a one of 'em in the cleanup spot.

Sox won’t sniff .500 for the rest of the season. The fact that this guy is even on the major league roster is insulting to the fan base

  • Wow what a throw by Cordell.

Well .500 was fun for 24 hours.

As awesome as it is that Giolito is 10-1, it does mean we are one of the worst teams in the league when he isn’t pitching.

Compare this to the Yankees yesterday.  They don't have anybody good, so they go to an opener, who starts the game off on a good note.  he Sox treat a game started by Giolito or Chris Sale exactly like they treat a game started by Manny Banuelos or Despaigne or whoever.  They expect them to go 6 to 7 regardless of how many they give up.  Completely inflexible thinking that will keep them from being a championship club unless they have overwhelming talent.  The Yankees have won every game they've used the opener.  I'm not sure the Sox have ever triedit.  Ricky values his ability to use 4 guys in the 8th too much to experiment.

It absolutely was not.  Look where Jose cut it off.  Right in line to home plate.

It absolutely was and even the announcers said so ?

This is what this season is going to be. Ups and downs. You can't be on cloud nine every time Giolito pitches and then curse the organization every time Banuelos or Despaigne pitches.

Not the Yankees announcers.  Plus, your own eyesight should have helped you out on this one.

It just hit me that the Sox are wearing a non-1983 uniform for a Sunday home game for the first time in what feels like a decade

Cordell should be DFA’d along with the loser on the mound right after this game. Guy hasn’t done shit in 2 months

Let’s throw in Castillo and Alonso as well!

He's filler(fodder).  Only excuse is for him to patch a hole while Cease and co. climb up the ladder.  I agree though, it's insulting that he was the one chosen to be the patch...certainly there were other options...

I think we can be both on cloud nine and pissed at the situation. There are fixes for marching bums out to the mound. It can be addressed and isn't right now.

Gamethread sure is gamethread today. :D

Terrible pitch calling to Tim when Paxton has been owning him on breaking balls down.

For real!

The lack of pitching depth in this organization is a total embarrassment.

I wonder what Abreu's numbers are since Ron made yet another Abreu jinx thread.

They have one guy they can even bring up, and that guy has not been pitching well of late.  This is why we need to trade Colome.

Calling strikes on the corner now huh?

Cmon Sox! I need this - only request for dads day (Happy to all other dads out there btw) was to watch a full friggin game. Plenty of innings left and I’m sending all positive juju at em

would be nice to get some 2 out hits. What was I thinking!

Of course they don't score.

Nah the time isn't now. The time could be next year. But if you expect much from rookie pitchers or guys coming off TJ surgery you might be in for a rude awakening next year too.

You would think playing in front of a crowd like this would get this team going

How is it that the Yankees can get a player like Encarnacion and not have to give up a top prospect?
