For a long time, Jimenez was in negative territory.   Of course, he got the biggest contract in team history.

He probably will turn out to be a lot like Carlos Lee...with more homers.  A really really nice player to have, but not a superstar in the modern game where you need to be able to run and throw or hit like JD Martinez.

Lopez and Jimenez get more leeway...however, Alonso, Nova, Banuelos, Cordell, Herrera(unfortunate surprise), Rondon, Ruiz,  and Despaigne can all be replaced.

Devers can really hit. He runs the bases like he came out of the White Sox organization.

He also was a hack in the field although he has supposedly improved the last couple of months.  But I think the bat was what made them switch from Moncada being untouchable to available

Maybe it was bad timing to be listening to Adley Rutschman and his father talking about signing with the Orioles at precisely the same time I found out about the Anderson injury...

Now is certainly not the time.

Escobar has been respectable in AAA. Bring up Mendick too and send down Rondon.

Mendick is the type of player who does everything fairly well but doesn’t have loud tools and who almost never gets a shot in the big leagues...we’ll just have to wait and see.

Players who do everything fairly well have long big league careers.

Do we get to extend the rebuild all the way to 2021 if Anderson is out for a long period of time...with rehab theoretically extending into next season?

Realistically, the first time the Sox would likely be true WS contenders was already 2021, due to the TJ rehabs for Kopech and Dunning and  various other rehab/getting into baseball shape for several others.  They will continue to improve and be fun though, so nbd.
