maybe

Must be nice to have good ownership and a good GM..

Watch their analytical team make him even better too. They are fucking stacked!

Not fair.

( hopefully people will say the same about us in 2023 )

lmao I think your team has to be good for people to say this

If they just took on his contract, this would have been the perfect deal. All that said, I could see Astros flipping him in the off-season (and just buying him for the post-season push and than moving him elsewhere).

Wow that's a lot. (based on prices from today)

Beer and Bukauskas are good prospects. Not sure I understand an NL team acquiring Beer though. He should get flipped this offseason to an AL team.

I'm very happy for the Astros...they needed the help

Good for Arizona.

Could settle in at 1B.

Or flipped next dead line or off-season after another good season.

Great trade for both teams.

Looks like Arizona is paying some of the salary so not a salary dump. In that case I get the sox not being a part of it

The Astros aren't moving this guy in the offseason. Their #2 starter is a free agent. They make their playoff run this year with Verlander and Cole, then next year they have Verlander and Greinke at the top of their rotation with McCullers coming back from Tommy John Surgery. They might still need pitching next offseason overall.

What this does do is take an option away from the market if an org needed a front line starter but didn't want to pay for Cole.

You're right. No player can ever improve or learn a new position I guess.

Edit: plus, NL will probably have a DH and it won't be an issue at some point when is up.

No, I'm just not sure he has a position. It is possible though. If Abreu plays 1B, I guess he can too.

Az did good . Got rid of the Greinke contract, got some prospects and replace him with Gallen.

Well, there goes my perfect offseason of trading for Greinke and signing Cole.

So you would have been fine giving up Vaughn Cease and Madrigal?
