Reinsdorf doesn't believe in paying managers that kind of money. Hell, I believe he's on record saying he doesn't believe managers have that big of an impact on games.

In fairness, Renteria is ranked 18 of 32 in salary. That is pretty decent especially w his limited managerial experience coming in.
