  • This in my opinion is a poor signing. The 37 year old EE is declining and has blocked Collins who in my opinion would have put up better numbers that EE this season. Like I said before put Collins in

  • Because they signed the best C on the market to a franchise record deal yet as soon as they took a chance on a 24 year old specimen, everyone started complaining about money not being spent again and

  • I don’t see how anyone could be upset with this. Another move that helps for 2020 but doesn’t block core guys down the road.

Sounds good, let’s go sign Pillar and Harris and go to battle

Nice signing!!!!

This team is really starting to look like it could be competitive..

Lookie there @Moan4Yoan - they did indeed have a plan B.

Grandal 72M

DK 55M

Gio 5M

Edwin 12M

144M spent so far without counting Abreu.

The money is being spent.

Machado was $300 million.  Let’s get greedy!  ?

I like the Pillar idea.  Most of the relievers are so old and likely fluky by nature, I’m not picky there.

So far the majority of 2020 looks like this, huh?

CF - Robert

3B - Moncada

1B - Abreu

LF - Eloy

DH - Encarnacion

SS - Anderson

C - Grandal

RF - Mazara

2B - Madrigal

SP 1 - Giolito

SP 2 - DK

SP 3 - Cease

SP 4 - Gonzalez

SP 5 - López / Kopech / Rodon

Sounds like the deal for EE is as follows:

2020:  $11 million

2021:  $12 million team option or $1 million buyout

I think it’s more:

1. Robert

2. Moncada

3. Abreu

4. Grandal

5. Eloy

6. EE

7. Mazara

8. Anderson

9. Madrigal

I’ll take a bunch of 3 WAR guys spread over 255m as opposed to a single 6 WAR guy.

thanks Sox FO for knowing better than this meat head fan.

That's a decent lineup. Hoping Edwin can be productive.

Merry Christmas.

Bring on April.

Agreed

Yeah, it's perfect.

Only deal I haven't liked has been the Abreu contact.

Patience, boys.

Whatever it ends up being, it’s amazing with the prospect of having the previous batting title holder in the lower third of a lineup!

And that was always going to happen. And even though that one isn’t a prime optimization of resources, I get it too and it shouldn’t kill us or anything.

What does signing EE have to do with people not liking the Mazara acquisition?
