Cleared waivers. Outrighted to Charlotte.

Since he has been outrighted previously, he still can refuse. I wonder what he will do.

  • Can't wait for the follow up in a few days when he clears waivers and ends up in Charlotte ?

Funny thing is Covey has a ton of value to rebuilding teams. Guy assures you you're going to lose most of his games he starts.

I'll never forget spending $80 on a ticket last season to see Covey have an infinite era before being taken out.

I'm pretty sure he'll take the job guaranteed to him since no MLB club is going to give him a big league contract.

Much of this will depending on any other minor league offers where the team may pay the AAA pitchers more money. Your "AAAA" players will go where the money is the best if they don't get MLB contracts.

The anticipation is killing me.  ?

A little surprised a tanking team didn't put in a claim.

no one wants to waste a roster spot. Now there will probably be teams interested in a minor league deal. Maybe he will figure it isn't happening with the White Sox, maybe another team and coach has a better idea.

Exactly. Plenty of other guys around the league with as much upside (not much at all) if not more.

Why would someone claim him?

I guess the only mystery now is what will "Orlando" change his screen shot picture profile to now?

Best of luck to you, Dylan.

I am so glad I don't have to worry about going to a random game and having to witness Covey pitch

Thank God.

Need some time to mourn before I lay it to rest.

What about that magical game in Boston? This has KW written all over it! Poor Covey!

I thought I remember listening to a podcast where Covey was, like, livid that his previous team left him unprotected on the Rule 5 draft, and how that got him super motivated to prove himself. Never really materialized. Still won't forget that amazing run he had in 2018, where he beat some pretty tough teams, including a gem against the would-be world champion Red Sox.

But still thankful he won't be with us anymore. Wonder where he will go. Detroit?

My condolences...but you will have to update your Field of Dreams promo eventually ?

We can only hope he lands in Detroit. He doesn't do well against teams who know him well.

The Sox were certainly very generous to Covey with playing time that his performance didn't warrant.  But he never developed, so I can see him wanting to leave and try some different instruction/coaching.

Worst nightmare...the White Sox miss the playoffs by 1 game after getting shut down by Nova and Covey the last two games of the year lol...this place would go nuclear.

OR we see Covey and Nova become heroes by shutting out the Twins in the middle of a playoff race.

...with Juan Minaya getting the saves in both games and Yolmer with a game winning walk off for the Tiggers

I do like this a lot better than the nightmares it is sandwiched between.

I will predict Covey goes to the KBO.
