It's not frustrating at all. This was never going to be some free agent signing frenzy that for some reason people thought it would be.  They have until Aug 1 to sign players.  There is no rush.  The

They have signed two others to this point.  There is a thread in the FS board for signings.

There's a finite number of positions available so signing him takes a spot away from a better player. You should take your own advice about making stupid statements.

This is showing that the Sox have indeed signed Ty Madrigal.

Yet another pitcher compared to Sale. He's left handed and has a slider. When will the obsession end?

Apparently Ty got all of the height.

Reminds me of me and my brother.

You're going to love this next one.

Oh. We didn't post this yet?

Signing the groundskeeper’s son. Nice touch.

at least they’re taking it seriously.

hoping he was signed for $1. $20k pays for several more employees through july.

Just name me one other org that scouts the grounds crew. Only the Sox cover all the bases and dig up the infield dirt for talent. Then imagine Nick M bottoming out while Ty becomes the next Buehrle. I bet we let some Andy Frains get away too.

So let me get this straight - the only two UDFA the Sox signed are Madrigal's brother and Bossard's kid, neither of which are prospects?

Yikes.

Thanks - missed that.

Edit - though, upon further review, neither of the other 2 guys appear to be anything worth mentioning.  Obviously it was always going to be tough to convince an interesting high schooler to sign, and tough when you're competing with 29 other clubs all offering the same thing for the older guys, but it would have been nice to get a few interesting guys in the org.

Yeah, that's not to say we have had a lot of success or anything.

Maybe the signing was Jerry's way of giving the Bossards a reward for his many years of service. Roger Bossard might be the longest tenured member of the White Sox family, He's been working for the Sox in some capacity for over 50 years and he is probably the most recognizable and famous name in his profession. It was a nice gesture . The amount might never be known. Jerry is pretty loyal . I'm sure his employees are taken better care of than most teams'.

Give him more vacation time, a bonus or a higher match on his 401k.  Giving his son who can't play dead in a cowboy movie an opportunity over a better more deserving player is not the way to reward an employee.

You don't even know the amount of money he was signed for so don't make stupid statements. The Sox are going to sign who they want to sign . SIgning one to an unknown amount won't stop them from giving  better players $20K. You think someone in the front office is going to say "wait we cant sign this guy , we gave Bossard all the money".
