  • All of the sudden we’re good and people want to give away long term great players for mediocre short term help.    please no

  • Cool, Mazara for Clevinger.    submit trade

Stiever can definitely go. If they can keep Kopech and Dunning and get Lynn you solve this and next season. Let's hope

article mentions kopech and........ adam engel.

ok done

That makes me think they’re dangling Kopech for controllable pitching. I don’t blame them one bit.

Not wanting to give up Kopech.   Honestly, I want us to stand pat and address pitching and OF in free agency.   We have some good prospects but are not deep.   We can’t trade away the farm to enhance our chances of winning a title in a year that would always have an asterisk next to it.

Oh, ok

Is Bob a day drinker? This seems absolutely crazy...

Cleve-dog for Kopech / Collins / Engel

do you make the deal?

i do.

big fan of cleve dog

Cleveland has to get rid of him at this point. No Kopech.

Wow...what a fucking crazy trade that would be.  I’m honestly not sure how I would feel about giving Kopech to the Indians and having to face him for the next half decade, but it definitely would improve our chances significantly for 2020 to 2022.

You’d be getting Clevinger for two full seasons, and he’s basically as good as what you would hope Kopech turns into.

How about Stiever, Adolfo, and Beard for Lynn?  Is that not enough?

I think we’d have to give up a much better 3rd piece than Beard to have any chance.

Just keep this in mind....the Sox know more about Kopech’s physical/mental health than anyone. If they are willing to trade him, then I support it.

I think I would do it too, but the thought of a maximized version of Kopech on the Indians is kind of terrifying. Is there a better team in baseball at developing pitchers?

edit: looks like 2 years, not 1.  nah I keep kopech

But you could have Kopech for 6+.     I want a dynasty...lnoypt to have a good lineup but no pitching 3 years from now.

You me and Flash and not many others were fine with that. Maybe 2 much for Lynn but possible for a controlled piece.

Sounds like someone’s fever dream. Never going to happen. They’ll want Robert.

Yeah, they'd want the best prospect and now a .900 OPS major leaguer with a HOF ceiling for Mike Clevenger. Sure

Kopech not pitching for two plus years does fuck us over to some extent, as we’ll likely have to monitor his innings closely for 2021 & 2022 whole he rebuilds arm strength.  That’s not ideal for a team that should be full steam ahead next year.

It’s probably right

It's probably wrong. Only 2 teams are interested? Doubtful

In the fun to dream category, Clevinger and Bauer are super close.  It would only help the Sox if they go after Bauer this offseason.

It’s more about the intra-division aspect of it and the fact Cleveland’s pitching lab is amongst the best in baseball.  It’s terrifying to think what they could do with that kind of arm and the risk it posies for the second half of our window.

Off topic, but Bauer has said that he's never going to sign a long-term deal and he'll only do 1 year deals as a free agent in perpetuity until he retires. I am fascinated to see if he ends up going through with that.

My thoughts exactly.
