Can't believe people want Rodon starting an elimination game if needed. Dude is toast. Gimme Crochet for 2-3 innings then go from there

  • Need to see Dunning against a team that’s not the Tigers or Royals. Not a knock on him as both teams are hard outs but if he can do well against The Twins/Indians/Cubs then that’s when the convo shoul

  • 100% hoo on the Dunning train chooo chooooooo

Crochet will probably be used a lot in 1 and 2. If it is Rodon,Lopez, Dunning and Cease, I'd start the first with Rodon. Then go to Dunning.

This could really come down to what happens in games 1 and 2.  If both Giolito and Keuchel can go deep in their games (with perhaps Marshall and Colome the only pen arms used), then a bullpen game in game 3 makes a lot of sense.  Foster and Heuer can both go multiple innings, and Crochet probably as well.  Then you have Bummer and see where you are.  If the bullpen gets somewhat taxed in the first couple games, though, you pretty much have to go with Dunning in game 3 and hope he can give you at least 5 quality innings.

Why are we talking about game 3? Sox in 2 baby!!!

Carlos Rodon?

For his whole career, Rodon's worst ERA in any inning is during inning #1. At least for this year, out of the 3, Cease has the best ERA in innings 1-3, Dunning is ok in those innings, Rodon isn't.

While sample size and what not, this weekend was a showcase against a team that was not hitting well and all three of Dunning, Cease and Lopez failed, some rather epically.

That is why everyone is on a short leash and Rodon gets the nod in my book.

Lopez should not be on the roster he can't be trusted to do anything, Dunning is early call should something drastic happen to Gio or Dallas or a game go 11+ innings.  Cease is a guy you think about against bottom of lineup guys who struggle with fastballs.

No matter who it is they have a short leash, I would still start Dunning then go with Cease/Rodon out of the pen if he gets in trouble early

I don't think we're ever going to find out.

Crochet opener, Rodon to follow?

I love that suggestion but it  hinges on keeping Crochet out of games 1 and 2. .

Hadn’t thought of that but I don’t think it’s past him to go two days in a row. Will be an interesting post season, hopefully we at least make it to the ALDS. ?

If Giolito looks good tomorrow, I wouldn't hesitate to let him throw 120 pitches.  Few pitchers keep their stuff deep into games as well as he does, and keeping Crochet and Heuer fresh for games 2 and 3 would be huge.

Giolito on 1 day rest.

I don’t think a full bullpen day is realistic if a game three is needed, which means Dunning has to be part of the equation IMO.  I’d try to get at least three or four innings out of him before turning over the the bullpen.

Crochet opener follow by Rodon in bulk might not be the worst idea. A's have a 104 wRC+ vs R. but just a 93 wRC+ vs lefties. If those two could collectively give you 5 innings, then you throw Dunning and/or Cease out there for an inning or two before handing it over to the backend of the bullpen.

I won’t be surprised if he goes with ReyLo....

This could be where Bauer earns his check next year lol.

Oakland is a walkathon. Game three has be a bullpen day with minimal walks.

My gut is telling me we lose game 1 with Giolito, we win game 2 with DK, and then I have no idea about game 3. I agree with those who said we should go with the hot hand at that point.

Bump. Idiot!
