For anyone questioning the dollar amount, what do you think Schwarber is worth? He’s got a great bat, hits lefty, and will be a 2-3 WAR player most years.

Lol no.  His career WAR after like 5-6 years is maybe 5

Then we DFA you for not being loyal.

  • Can always count on Soxtalk for a discussion that starts at "Should the Sox sign Schwarber" and veers into "yea well Thome sucks against LHP anyways"

It's actually 9. He's been a 2 WAR player in the 3 years before 2020.

Edit: I'm referencing fWAR, bWAR does have him as a 5 WAR player.

so do you think this means the DH is coming back to the NL?

If it’s not, I don’t understand this move at all.

Good for Schwarber

He’s had three seasons after turning 25. One bad Covid season and two good normal seasons. Before that he had a good rookie year and a bad follow-up to that.

3 good years vs. 1.3 bad years

C’mon man. He’s not what the Cubs thought he’d be but he’s still a great bat with bad defense

C’mon man. He’s not what the Cubs thought he’d be but he’s still a COULD-DO-WORSE PLATOON bat with ATROCIOUS defense.

Fixed ?

Forget it, already covered.

Sounds like he would play LF with Soto moving to RF if there is no DH. MLBTR speculated he could also work on and play some 1B.

What an absurd waste of money
