Rumor: Sox discussing deal with Cubs/Rangers

Featured Replies

Why would it need to be more than dunning? Cubs shed some payroll Sox get a right fielder who can defend and cubs get a cheap pitcher  who can be middle rotation.

Why?  It’s an all in move without giving up the farm.

Because the Sox shouldn’t have to give up Dunning even if they are only taking on part of Heyward’s contract.

Haha don't lump me in with those strokes. I don't know shit. Kinds trust this person (I barely know, through a buddy). Good chance it's all bullshit, but thought I'd throw it out after Ciscek, who I kinda buy. Maybe I'm a total schmuck.

I’m just playing around. One time I heard from Curtis granderson that he was going to the yankees and then he was wrong and that was my moment of insider game.

Loaded rotations win in the playoffs. If you can get Darvish cheap via taking Heyward (with Cubs eating $$$), and can also pull off a Lance Lynn deal, the Sox are stacked going in to 2021.

Everyone has 6 degrees of separation with Granderson.

Darvish just had a near cy young year. This board way WAY overrated how much taking on money should get.

This can’t be that hard to follow. Check the first page.

Wait, Dunning for Heyward? No thank you, I thought Darvish was involved?

It’s not a link because it’s just from this posters friend.

It has to be Darvish and Heyward both.  Its all that makes sense.

I agree with this.

I know. But Heyward’s contract is an albatross. No way would I take him off the Cubs hands AND give them a promising young pitcher. Jed Hoyer can get bent.

If there's any truth to it, it's probably something like Dunning, Lopez, Foster and Leury/Engel.

Are we ACTUALLY ok with Jason Heyward as the starting RF? And Yu Darvish was pretty bad up til last season. I just can’t get hyped about this move.

Probably but it makes a lot of sense.

Dunning seems a bit steep for all of that money. Maybe if they're eating 40/60M owed to Heyward.

For just heyward ? Seriously you would

Think heyward is worth all that?

My buddy that I teach with was his college roommate at UIC

He was talking Darvish/Heyward and cash not just Heyward.

Heyward is the great defensive RF who can hit RHP they seek. His contract is awful but it offsets the price for Yu.

Screw Heyward and his contract, I want no part of him.

Outside of his first season and a half with the Cubs Darvish has been at least a strong #2 with ace like stretches.

Darvish has been light years better than Bauer over the course of his career. It's not even close.

No with Darvish as well.

I like the defense and lineup balance a lot better with Heyward in RF and obviously the rotation looks a lot better with Darvish in it
