White Sox have an established arm like Davies to trade for Yu?

They have a gently used Reynaldo Lopez?

Zach Davies is a nice get for a couple years.

Didn't somebody tell the Padres they have no money left? Remember the Hosmer deal. They are broke.

But like why? I guess to flip? Hea useless to the Cubs at this point

I’m kind of mad the Sox didn’t beat that offer.

Jesus christ if I’m a Cubs fan and thats the return I’d be furious.

Davies is a rental.  Cubs fans should be disappointed.

I can’t imagine he isn’t a flip guy at the deadline.

Im guessing the Padres didnt ask for much salary relief. Sox werent going to spend that much money.

I doubt they deal at deadline as no reason they won’t contend in that division

I think most people here would have been perfectly fine giving up Crochet/Stiever/Collins/Rutherford for a few years of cheap control of Snell.

Getting Blake Snell without giving up Kopech or Vaughn would have been a massive steal, especially with Crochet's elbow prolly being a ticking time bomb.

You gotta be in it to win it. SD is a franchise making big moves to win now, too bad we are not. We would never make a move like this. Ghosts of Jerry Krause, I mean Jerry Reinsdorf, haunt these halls.

Yet another instance of Reinsdorf holding this franchise back because he is cheap.

I doubt it. The cubs have no pitching now. Lost 4 starters. Need to fill in the rotation some how

This is a very risky deal for the Cubs but the upside is huge. The oldest prospect in the package is 20 years old.

So your goal is to win the division? The goal should be to win the World Series. Period.

The white Sox would have a better chance to win the World Series by winning their division than the padres will in the wildcard.

Yea they’ve gotta plan on sending him off too.

I wonder how the Twins fans are feeling right now when a lot of people had Darvish being traded to them and now they may lose Odorizzi to another team as well.

Probably like they can take the Sox anyway.

They will make some moves in the next month or so I’m sure.

Doubt they are worried about us right now, we have a chance to put a strangle hold on the division for the next 5 years and we are letting the opportunity pass us by.

He is owed almost 60 mil and is 34. The Cubs took what they could get.

The fact some of their fans thought it should be a Sale level deal is more of an indication that there probably was lead paint in the bleachers and they have long term brain damage.

How do these prospects compare to our system? What would an equivalent return be?

If the Sox were in on Darvish at all, any deal probably fell apart due to requiring the Cubs to kick some money in.

I absolutely love how the Padres did this all by using their 6-20 prospects.  I’ve always thought the top guys are way more vital than the depth guys.

Do you think the Sox will make anymore moves or do you think they are done?
