A lot of baseball media agree with @Vulture

Cease isn't missing horribly but he's still missing. Also hitters still teeing up on his fastball when it's a strike.

I would definitely buy "This is a smokescreen to keep us from looking desperate in trade discussions". 

I can survive him being "Bad" out there. I'd really worry that a guy who isn't used to this and has never been coached on the position will pull a hamstring, or do an Avisail Garcia like dive for a ball. 

Cease vs LHH ?

Williams/Engel platoon is a better in house solution. At least you’ll get good defense

I'm not sure Cease will ever be a decent MLB starter. His fastball is too hittable. Even at 97-99 mph it still looks like a beach ball to hitters.
