I am probably going to jinx us here, but I remain shocked that of all of our players, Leury Garcia is still healthy.

We could quite literally be running our 3rd string OF out there as a part of the starting line up against RHP, if Leury were to play IF for some reason.

I was looking at the Triple-A roster to see if there was anyone else worth calling up besides Sheets and it is rough.

Same. He's got voodoo magic on his side.

There should be room to add some guys from Charlotte, with all of the players on the IL. Without Engel, and if they acquire Escobar, as rumored, here is a potential lineup versus RH pitching, which would at least have some proven veterans, to go along with the rookie, Sheets:

SS  Anderson   RH

3B  Moncada    SH

1B  Abreu          RH

LF  Lamb           LH

C   Grandal       SH

DH Escobar      SH

2B  Beckham    RH

RF  Sheets/Leury    LH/SH

CF  Goodwin     LH

If you are going to trade for a DH, why would you just limit it to Escobar?

Who has graded out as one of the worst CFers in past years...

We’re going to kill our starters with the outfield defense, and really piss off Lynn even more than in his last couple of outings with miscues behind him.

Just got done looking at his FG page.  It isn't great.

I didn't know that Goodwin was considered such a bad defensive centerfielder. Would Leury be better, and could Goodwin be ok in RF?

Burger, Rutherford, and Adolfo are the only ones left on the 40 man.

Because we don't know who'll be going to the IL next. If you prefer, put Escobar at second and DH Beckham. Look, these aren't great options, but unless they make multiple trade acquisitions, this might be the best that they can do. It should be better than playing Mendick and Luis González.

This is where the Indians are beating us now.  Harold Ramirez has around an 800 ops and Bobby Bradley has come up and made a big impact as well.

As with Mercedes, remains to be seen if they can keep it up after the league makes adjustments.

Only Jose Ramirez, Luplow and Reyes over 100+ wrc.

Harold Ramirez and Bradley (two rookies) have joined them...of course, Reyes and Luplow are both out.

Basically, the Indians have a much better...certainly more reliable...back end of the bullpen in Shaw, Karinchak and Clase.

Leury is a much better center fielder than Goodwin. He should honestly play there every day now that Engel is hurt.

We should’ve also added depth to this team last offseason. We probably wouldn’t be talking about this right now if that happened but guess who didn’t want to spend anymore money?

Depth is nice and all, but really isn't anyone surviving their top 4 OFs being on the DL.  That isn't realistic.  There just aren't enough 25 and 40 man roster spots to store that much talent.

2005....Frank Thomas comes off the DL and hits some home runs...then goes back on DL.

2021...Adam Engel comes off the IL and hits some home runs....then goes back on IL.

All we have to do now is find the 2021 Geoff Blum.

He might already be here in Jake Lamb.

There is one thing I am fairly certain of......Luis Gonzalez isn't the answer.

Gonzalez maybe but Mendick is fine

Fine with me...I look forward to staying up into the wee early mornings to see him plant one in the right field seats somewhere yet unknown

To be fair, he could be depending on the question.

I think the board was pretty split on if they should sign another corner bat that could play LF and RF with the idea you could give Vaughn more time in the minors and rotate Eloy between DH and LF. But yeah no one saw this many guys going down. It is a crazy amount of injuries honestly.

They should have sucked it up and brought in someone from outside back in early May. Then they would at least have had another warm body so as to not rush Engel so much.

Jerry can't afford that!

This organization sucks.  After years of suffering through a rebuild we are left with a weak ass roster because of the lack of depth.

Here it is: who should not have been called up today?

everyone talking about needing a 2B - this team needs an OF / DH bat badly.

They need both. With Power. Starling Marte, Escobar, Schwarber  2 of those 3 and relief pitching. The list keeps growing which means the chances of Reindorf covering all areas is dwindling.

At this point I'd call it lack of options . The Sox have got decent contributions from their depth. They are beyond depth concerns now and frankly have been.

The bottom portion of the lineup is looking worse and worse on paper every week.
