  • If the White Sox sign Conforto and Tepera and trade for Chris Bassitt, I don’t care who plays second base.

  • Taylor finished the season in an 8-72 slump, and had an OBP under .300 and an OPS under .700 the second half of 2021.  He is basically the position player equivalent of Kimbrel.

    Then move the market.

2.1 WAR for close to minimum seems like a good deal especially for a team that is always concerned about budget.

Yep, Heuer and his contract would look great as well Sox uniform as well.

Smart teams keep salary controlled players. Half the board wants to dump Vaughn to save Jerry cash, and sign Conforto and dump yet another first round selection as compensation.

Leury Garcia was worth 2.0 fWAR last year, so that's how easily it's found.

Compare salaries. If the White Sox actually did this enough, and not freak out and waste 6-8 million so many times, they may actually have the money to play at the top of the market. They squander so much every season in that price range.

I don’t have a link. I’m just going off what @Baron had said yesterday.

Which was based on a tweet from last week

Heck, the White Sox got an enormous return from a signing at that level. Almost so much that it offsets a lot of those signings.

My problem continues to be that they did so many of them in 2019 and 2020, and gave up players in the process. This is where the $50 million+ they added in 2019 while also giving up Narvaez or going for Mazara is coming back to sting.

Do you have a link to the tweet?

No it just said they’re pursuing players like Conforto and Ray.

It was Semien not Conforto. He’s said nothing about Conforto that I can find.

That says Semien ?

Well that's really fucking great lol still waiting on that "front line starter like Robbie Ray" and "second baseman like Marcus Semien."

Can’t wait for the “official” tweet tomorrow from Bob or Merkin saying the Sox will wait until after the lockout to make moves. It’s like the trade deadline.

So I was correct yesterday than, none of the national writers have linked us to Conforto. Tbh, I don’t think his name has been mentioned hardly at all.

My SoxMachine Offseason plan had them trading for Sean Manea, so I'm going to stick with that.

Kenny found those guys in 2004-2005. Hahn is not capable of finding multiple players in this mode.

Bulls are solid and on the right track a few years after new leadership. Hopefully Sox fans will be in the same position later this decade with Michael or a new Ownership group, including a new front office and manager / coaching staff.

Can't spend $1 if all you have is $0.50.

Do the White Sox need to move Kimbrel's salary before making any additional moves?

Are they now hoping the market will move in their favor after a few of these teams have been so aggressive? This could go well beyond the upcoming artificial deadline of the lockout....

Is it possible that the White Sox see their team as much better than the fans do? They signed a relief pitcher to step into the bullpen, it was only a year ago and Andrew Vaughn was considered a top #5 prospect....maybe with the combination of him and Sheets, they think they have options already here and a full rotation in place.

It certainly appears that they are operating with a tighter budget that we are hoping a team as good as the White Sox are, but this could all be for not, if they surprise us with a significant move, and many of the OF targets linked to them are still available.

Hahn has already stated they have the financial flexibility to add one larger signing and that doesn’t require them moving Kimbrel.

that Robbie Ray deal stings
