aside from that though, he's a pretty good pitcher

Since 2019, Yoan Moncada has the 12th highest fWAR in basbeall. You calling him just an "above average" player is just laughable. Moncada has played 40 fewer games than Devers in the time and generate

Remember when Keuchel was actually decent before the third time through the order?

Now he's bad every time through the order.

They're going to carry him for a while.....hopefully they cut bait in June.

He’s not serviceable anymore. They got to move him to the bullpen and use him when they have a big lead.

Mop up duty only.  He’s toast.

Every pitch is a high change up or 86 mph fastball down the plate.  He looks like Jim Parque.

Even a fly out is taken nearly to the track

You think they’d cut Dallas if they acquired Manaea?  Can’t see it happening.

I don't think so either, but maybe in May or June like they did to Danks.

Get him the hell out

Oh that I could see, but seems like they’d give him a few weeks as a long man.  As horrible as he looks right now (and it’s really bad) it’s still just spring training.  Not sure they eat $18M that quickly.

I wonder if we sent him off and ate 10 of the 18m someone would take him at 8m for a scrub prospect?

That would help to pay the new SP salary for 2022 on a net basis.

Manae, Giolito, Kopech, Cease, Lynn. Let's gooooo.

Cease stayed healthy the entire year, was very good, and he still barely cracked 160 IP. Worrying about Keuchel reaching 160 innings is a waste of time. There is a 0% chance that happens for a variety of reasons.

he literally hit it last year.

I have never heard of this guy in my life

He was actually decent for the first 100 innings of that. If 2nd half Keuchel is what he is now, there's no way he gets 160 innings.

Inning mercifully over.

by 2  innings. You think he's going to be given the same amount of rope coming off a season with a 5 era vs one with a 1.99 ERA?

If they start Keuchel they're basically conceding the game. I'd take my chances with Lopez.

Keuchel keeps it close so you are always in the game.

Moncada is late on everything. He's lost his bat speed.

Dude could totally pull a Bellinger this year. Nobody is afraid of him anymore.

Moncada's bat looking this slow is definitely a concern

He had the 3rd highest OBP in the AL and he has no injury that we're aware of. Give it a rest.

If you actual start Keuchel in a regular season game this year you will be basically giving a game away. He is done. He has nothing left. If you keep him he has to go to the bullpen and be the last guy ever used. Mop up innings in blow outs.

This isn't a shot at you, but people who are "analyzing" bat speed with their eyes over the TV are not really making a point. What many people view as a slow bat is really just bad timing. I'm sure Moncada hasn't magically lost bat speed.

His hip is flying open causing the slower bat speed and inability to handle a breaking pitch.  Needs to get a better rhythm to his swing.  Eloy also struggling now, as he’s struck out in quite a few consecutive at bats.
