Just from an on field perspective, both guys are more appealing than Rodon 2 years ago or Cueto last year. There's enough of a track record where if Katz signs off on them, that's good enough for me

Are we sure Cueto's success can be attributed to Katz? Seems like he just finally got healthy this year.

  • I sure hope Rick Hahn's seat at the table keeps him warm while at home watching the stars he couldn't sign lead their teams to post season success.

  • And his 2 run HR just put them within 3 outs of the World Series. it's a good thing the Sox didn't need Harper.

The lack of a serious pursuit of him is definitely a defining moment of the rebuild. Just terrible.

Who is going to give Manaea a long term deal after his stuff degraded later in the season?

I don't think he's dissimilar from pitchers like Kikuchi, Alex Wood, Matz, Alex Cobb etc who all signed multi year deals last off-season. ~3/36M doesn't strike me as unreasonable for him at all.

No I just think he's a really good pitching coach and I'd trust him to develop arms like that if they sign here.

What a bomb from Schwarber.

There really is no better feeling in sports than your team winning in the postseason when you didn't expect them to. I'm glad I got to experience it in 05 and it seems like there's always one team doing that every postseason. This Phillies team, last year's Braves, 2019 Nationals, etc.

Arte Moreno probably crying in the corner reading this lol

Wheeler's velo up ~3MPH across the board in that first inning lmao

Hoskins can't stop, won't stop, hitting 2 run bombs

Got a break with the increasing rain intensity.

At least it's an interesting game,

Decision to pull Wheeler the first move to backfire on Thomson recently...along with relief moves in G2.

Bryce Harper would have looked good in the White Sox line up the last couple of years. At least JR gets to die with a bigger bank account.

Unreal.

Gotta give credit to the Phillies.

Team of destiny right now.

Couldn't get the game to Hader.

Wheeler and Harper would have looked pretty nice in Sox uniforms...

Bryce Harper is god..

Padres' fans somewhat bitter they didn't get Harper and Machado, saving the need to empty out the system for Soto.

That just wasn't realistic at the time.

Like the season he had a 10 fWAR mode right now.

Would be a shocker if Azocar Drury or Kim can do much here.  Lost Bell for the PR in the 7th.

They wouldn’t have signed Eaton or traded for Pollock. That right their makes Harpers cost go down. They are so afraid of good players. Bryce Harper would have done so much more than help them win games. They wouldn’t be the forgotten team anymore nationally let alone locally. Always think small seems to be their motto,

What's Bryce Harper worth compared to Gavin Sheets?

Could that moment be any more storybook?

A lesson the Sox will never learn.

David Robertson closing. I bet the Phillies wish they had Joe Kelly. They would have loved Joe Kelly.

Same with Machado.

Moncada won 2019, but those three non-moves pinned the rebuild largely on the success of Yoan, Robert and Jimenez.

Fwiw, Machado has a legit case for ML MVP.
