What were the Giants thinking?? He might accept and then they'll be stuck with an ace on 1 year deal.

The Mets wanted TA or Correa? Kind of unclear.

Mets want Correa. Mets will need to move some money to make that signing. Sox could benefit from this salary dump exercise from this including McNeil potentially.

Ah I see. Thanks.

Mets jumped into Correa sweepstakes a little too late. If Correa were available for them to sign, they would need to free up some money.

Jeff Mcneil doesn't make very much thou. MLB Trade rumors estimates 6.3MM.

Definitely less than the 10MM escobar makes.

You know what's more likely all.

But were not the place to look for that so yeah

Hey, I’m just repeating what our board insider said.

I am watching the Sox presser.

Sign Correa. We have, by my count, $60M coming off books after this season.

it is this reason why I think sox try to do a grandal/perez swap

They will have to dump Escobar & McCann and potentially more . If they truly want Hendricks as rumored, conversation has to start with McNeil imo. I still think Correa signs with Giants anyways, so all moot speculation

Imagine if the Correa to Giants thing falls through, the Sox sign Correa, and then they trade TA for a massive haul. It’s fun to dream.

I'm just saying if you try to dump salary you typically start on the higher salary players not the lower, affordable players. Mcneil would be pretty far down the list for them unless we consume mccann for the pleasure.

as they should be. for how much Sox fans want to complain about this off-season...theirs is absolutely comically bad.

What's so bad about it? Relatively inactive, sure, but Vazquez is a nice fit for them and Gallo has been very comparable to Benintendi (slightly better than Beni overall, but worse lately) on a holistic (WAR) basis throughout his career

I would have rather the Sox signed Gallo to his deal than Benintendi to his.

Sox brass is just in love with Benintendi, that's all I've got. I'm not surprised the Sox acquired him, but what was surprising is that they didn't when Boston made him available.

Have to hope it works out as well as KW White Whale Javier Vazquez ($12M AAV, 4.03 bWAR per season).

I was just talking to a friend of mine about Javy Vazquez and Alex Rios.

Counting on Grandal is like telling a guy with a brain tumor to play through it. Enjoy counting your money my friend.

Ugh!!! Bummer that’s less than I thought!

We are paying Leury just $3M a year less for -150000 year he production

Drury would have been an awesome fit here.  Oh well.

I don't think it'll happen, but I'd love to see the Sox pick up Profar. He checks a ton of the same boxes.

Why spend 8M on a good player when you can set 5M on fire for a bad one instead?

Maybe this will finally be the year the Angels build a functional team around the 2 best baseball players on the planet.
