The Cubs won 3 NL Pennants in the 30s and again in 1945 besides a few in the early 20th century. It is  WS wins that they have come up short, tied with us with 3 but we win the tie breaker for beating them in 1906 in the WS. I'm pretty sure they've  been in 11 WS to our 5.

The Sox suck is all I can say.  At least I can say I was frustrated with this team for a reason.

Time to move on and wait for a new owner.  The Met's never thought it would happen with the Wilpon family, and low and behold they now have Steve Cohen.

One can only hope.

Those 50s & 60s Sox teams would have made the post season most of those years if Division & Wild Card play existed back then.  The Sox while having a horrid history on paper get penalized for being around for so long under those old rules.  Those Yankees teams were loaded with all time greats.  Hard to hold that against other AL teams of that day for not stacking up.

This is also why teams like the Red Sox, Guardians, and Tigers are in the bottom 5. 

Don’t get me wrong, the Sox since expansion have been pretty awful at reaching the post season.  I’m definitely not letting them off the hook for their failures in the modern era, especially during JR’s tenure, but it’s unfortunate that their best era was played under different playoff rules.

Technically there was no playoffs for a very long time.  There was just the World Series . The modern term "playoffs" means a series of steps to get you to the final series for a championship. One round like the World Series is a playoff.  But I doubt anyone used the word playoff very often. It was just the World Series. 2 rounds or more is playoffs.

The Sox are in last place because they had a long (sad) history before 1969 and the Yankees dominated in the AL and maybe the Cardinals in the NL.

Of course they haven't done much better since the modern playoffs started either.

I think you meant the Reds, the Red Sox are #11.

The Phillies have also been bad, just ahead of us of the original 16 franchises.

I’d argue the best generation (20 years) of White Sox baseball was 1901-1920, and would have gone much longer, possibly the best American League team in history, if Landis didn’t ban the eight acquitted White Sox players for life.

The White Sox were a juggernaut between 1917-1920, within 1/2 game of the 1920 Pennant until the accused players were suspended by Comiskey for their final series. They had a solid core and the team could have very well been competing for World Series into the 1920s and beyond if their substantial core wasn’t gutted. They were within 2.0 lost 1920 bWAR than Hahn entire 2022 team.
