August 9, 20232 yr He's still averaging almost 3 HR/9 and also has a much worse FIP in his 13 LA innings. He had a few nice outings for the Sox after mixing up his pitch arsenal too. We saw how long that lasted.

Ethan Katz is absolutely one of them, this pitching staff has made very little positive progress this year and wasted a whole lot of resources. Plus, the pitching staff has been repeatedly put in positions to fail or get hurt (Crochet, Hendrix, Martin). The good news is he’s likely to be the fall guy to protect Hahn and Grifol this year.

Dylan Cease has made progress? Giolito didn’t go backward the last two years? Katz also was the 2022 pitching coach for the Giants?

Is Cease injured this year? Explain that regression. Gio was awful last year. Explain that. Lynn too. Kopech has gone from promising prospect to afterthought, whose stuff has virtually disintegrated. Where is Katz on that? Don't even get me started on the bullpen. I'm not saying Katz is the sole reason for the struggles and regression, but I don't think he is some pitching savant either. To this point he is very replaceable.

August 9, 20232 yr The white Sox have the 24th ranked ERA in baseball. They have given up the 4th most home runs and second most walks in MLB. Their strikeout to walk ratio is 22nd so even if they’re getting strikeouts, the walks are winning. How is that not on the pitching coach? edit: and all that is while in the AL Central, with one of the easier schedules in mlb.

It is also very troubling that when we trade pitchers other teams know exactly what to change on them but for some reason we are unable to see this. Hopefully they dont keep him around as long as Cooper but with Jerrys loyalty.........

He definitely did help Rodon at least, no one else was able to get him into shape, but that’s one player.
