What's a bunch?  70-92?

Why are you asking me instead of GreenSox? It's his accusation:

Getz seems to be far more concerned with maxing that 2026 win total than developing a team that might be able to win in a couple of years.

All the big brains here are saying it will take 5+ years for Getz to build a winner, if he ever does. Why don't y'all fight with each other's hot takes instead of my very intelligent and happiness-inducing comments?

What's the difference? If he builds a team that can win a bunch next year, isn't that good? I would be surprised if Robert isn't traded.

He's doing it at the expense of the long-term.   He's got Taylor and Rojas on this team for no reason at all.   Pushing players out to make room for  Martin Perez?  What the heck??
Trade Robert? When?  The best Robert has played in the last 2 seasons were the 4 weeks leading up to the trade deadline.  Getz' demand  of a starting position player from a contender was patently ridiculous; Okay, they wanted to do Tauchman a solid - fine - but his value will never be as high as it was in July.   Getz refused to trade Civale.  He trades Houser for a declining prospect who has no real upside.

Up until the deadline, Getz was a flawed GM, but it looked like he had a plan and was trying.

But now, it looks like his goal is to bring a 70 win team to Chicago.    A dog and pony show

The smartest thing Getz ever did was have a historically bad 2024 roster.  It makes upcoming seasons look like substantial progress.

To be fair, Rick Hahn had a lot more to do with that than Getz (not suggesting Getz is free from blame by any means)

I understand using some of the sunk cost pitchers to eat some innings but keeping Rojas and Taylor around is a joke.  They are on one year deals and they won’t be back next year.  At this point, they are just wasting at bats that could be used for assessing other players.  Getz has traded for multiple outfielders over the past couple years that could be getting assessed right now.  What was the point of acquiring them if you would rather play veteran bums in yet another losing season?

To be fair, Hahn is also responsible for the three best hitters in Getz’s lineup.  Pretty pathetic.

It’s pathetic that Rick Hahn is responsible for the three best hitters in the lineup after being GM for the 11 years preceding two rebuilding ones?  At these serious fucking posts?

All three guys are young players — Sosa, Quero, and Montgomery.  It’s not like Hahn acquired them early in his 11 year career as GM.

So far, Getz has acquired a dude that has cold streaks longer than his hot streaks in Vargas, a guy in Meidroth that looks like a utility infielder posing as a starting 2B, and a CF in Zavala in the Cease trade that doesn’t look like a major leaguer.

It's not about brains lol...

It's knowing JR won't spend, the labor impossible looming and having to rely on trades rather than FA acquisitions.

The next excuse is the White Sox getting screwed again by the 2026 draft lottery afree missing out on so many young position prospects in 2024's draft.

Or not getting anything in return for Luis Robert and letting him go to cut another $18 million more off $140 million in accrued debt.

2019 or an untimely occurrence is all we have to hope for, as dark as that is.

I’m wondering if they’ll expose them to waivers and then move on if nobody claims them.

It is no coincidence that once Getz started dropping the over the hill utility guys for the kids, the team improved.

It took Hahn until his 8th season as GM to make the playoffs. Low bar I know but that’s how long I expect this thread to last.

You taking the over or under on Getz beating that?

Neither.  I don’t think he makes it to 8 seasons as GM.  I’m hoping that Ishbia takes over in 2029 and cleans house.

I’ll take the under.  If they can get Schultz & Smith fixed and if they actually start spending some money, I could see be us a playoff threat in two or three years.

There's more playoff spots now. The last NL spot is held by a team 6 games over .500.

Under.

I have said 2030 for a couple of years now, and still feeling pretty good about it.

It seems pretty obvious that Jerry has no desire to spend money if he’s a few years away from potentially selling the team to Ishbia.  So you are probably dead on.

Who can guarantee that.  Hopefully Ishbia is already doing some research. I doubt Jerry would honor any advice.
